It is very rare that a child gets the common canine roundworm. When they do, it is linked to eating without washing after handling puppy poop. The 'treated intact worms, are not viable. When children do get worms, it is from the eggs in feces, but not the worm itself.
Just practicing reasonable hygiene will keep your child safe.

yes if your child ate the worm.... Just dont let your child by the poop....
No I highly doubt your kid will get the worms and if your treating it, it only takes 2 weeks. You treat the dog for worms and then again in 2 weeks and all done.. I rescue animals and we have children, i've never had a problem. Once a dog poops and some worms come out, they are dead within 5 minutes from being out of the body.
God bless!

I found the following paragraphs at http://www.petsandparasites.org/dog-owners/roundwo...
Roundworms do pose a significant risk to humans. Contact with contaminated soil or feces can result in human ingestion and infection. Roundworm eggs may accumulate in significant numbers in the soil where pets deposit feces.
Children should not be allowed to play where animals have passed feces. Individuals who have direct contact with soil should wear gloves or wash their hands immediately.
____________
If your dog passes worms, they will be dead since it's being treated. As for eggs, they should be dead, as well, but if you're real concerned, call the vet.
I have had pets all my life, and had children as well. We have never had an issue with children getting sick from the dogs. I always cleaned up the dog droppings as soon as i could after they went. Washing hands, keeping the yard cleaned up is your best defense.
