Norse Heathens a way to deal with racist Heathens?

I deal with them by explaining meself clearly.

I'm of mixed heritage and one of the things which put me off Asatru temporarily were wankers of this sort. Saying shite like why dont kaffirs like me go to their own religion. Firstly, I'm not a kaffir and who are you to say what my religion should be?

Fast forward and I met a nice bloke who was Vanatru. He informed me about real Heathenry and not some twisted White power bull's shite. I became an Asatruar because of the strong ethics and morals, along with the heritage angle. Heathenry made more logical sense than Russian Orthodoxy.

I dont let racialists tell me what do to nor define me. I have spoken to some and one was surprised that I knew what I know about our lore/mythology. I'm a novice; I still have MUCH to learn. He asked me why I wasn't a Muslim and I told him that Islam is foreign and not of the ancestors. Plus, my father would beat the living shite out of me if I joined such an obviously wrong path. We ended up learning about each other and went our separate ways peacefully.

Much of these teens dont know any better, which is why I will talk with them IF they will listen.

OTOH, if they want a fight, they will have one. We Finns beat the hell out of both the Russians and the Germans; I'll just be keeping up a family tradition. ;)

I consider meself Tribal Asatru with Folkist leanings. BTW, if I had £10 for everytime someone said all Folkist are rabid racialists, I'd be rich. Folkist means that it is a religion indigenous to a particular ethnic group, like Shinto is Japanese or Hinduism is Indian. It's only the the extremists who make it like Nazism and make me want to kick someone's ar5e.

This is a great way to practice your patience.

In short... don't point your finger too much, but live up to your words and set an example. If you answer to violence with more violence, you're starting a vicious cycle of hatred that can never come to any good. How to deal with them? With wise words, patience and moderation, I'm afraid...

I wasn't suggesting you should turn the other cheek - I was suggesting you should use WISDOM, as you say, before you act. As in, do not react too boldly and with violence, if there are other better ways. First of all, you need to determine what racism is. If you are not demanding that, for example, Jews, allow non Jews into synagogues (and you are not because you either are a Jew or do not have the guts) or suggesting that blacks include whites in voodoo ceremonies and allow them to lead them as we are supposed to allow Jews to direct European Heathenry, one wonders why you are singling out ethnic Europeans and attempting to demonize them when they are merely attempting to practice their own religion, in the way their ancestors did, rather than in the Christianized universalist way you do. The fact is that our European ancestors did not race mix, and we did not have gay marriage, etc. in the ancient world and I am not a "moron"but an Oxford educated scholar saying this. I have also attended an all black high school so I know what I am talking about in the real world. I agree that there is a growing sense of white supremacy among some Heathens and it is very self defeating. I agree with many other Heathens that the only way Heathenism can gain mainstream credibility is by aligning with the Aryan religions of Hinduism and Buddhism which are much closer to our ancestors and are way more respected than the desert religions. But these religions are so popular because they are accepting of all and tolerant and peace-loving. Some of the west's best scholars believe that we share a common ancestry with the ancient Indians and so its a very strategic move for us to see Heathenism as Western Sanathana. But unfortunately the problem often with minority religions is that they just don't know how to position themselves and are very fragmented and disunited. I see a lot of Hindus and Buddhists who suffer from this as well in the west so the crazy Christians and radical Muslims get all the airtime while we arguing over the best strategy to adopt.

PS: Karl, violence is not the answer. Even Odin would want us to get with the times and use the power of our minds and our voices instead of our fists. Just my 2 cents lol!

Probably best to ignore them for the most part, or if you run into one that is open to debate, explain to them and try to educate them.

Going on a website like Stomfront [which one of the oldest White Supremacist forums on the net.] would just be trolling, which although it may produce lulz isn't going to accomplish much other than that. Trust me, the members of that forum are not going to listen to you as they are very confident in their ideologies. If you go to a place where White supremacists hang out, you are just asking for trouble, it's like batting the hornets nest.

Also, being violent towards them and ripping their pendants off is only going to start a fist fight. It'll just make them think you are raving lunatic and it is not going to change their minds.

You must keep in mind that racists are a fringe group among Heathens, not the norm. Making a big fuss is only going to give them publicity, and they love that.

@ Aurora: I'm a tribal too. Who can be a heathen? Whomever is accepted into the tribe and becomes one of them. Whether by birth or adoption, it's nor my decision or my call to make unless it's my tribe.

We don't deal with them, period. Whenever they gain publicity, we will condemn their actions. Whenever asked, we will make clear we are not allied or associated with the racist groups who make (mis)use of heathenry.

Whenever someone lumps us together with them, we will protest.

We should not start an all-out war. Our numbers are thin, and whomever STARTS a war will have the State to deal with. It would be unwise to go out and root the racist guys out of their holes, but we should be able to take vengeance if they move against us.

If they attack people in our communities, we retaliate and strike at them to keep them holed up for a while. We should be upstanding members of our communities. Helping defend our communities from their enemies is part of our job.

If they attack any member of our tribes, we retaliate and kill them. Let there be nine of their dead for wounded man of ours and may Odin smile on the victors.

I'm not sure how to deal with it. I know they are annoying as hell. There is a group of neo-nazi's in my area that wear the hammer... mostly teenagers, but still annoying. After talking with a couple of them, it's obvious they don't even know what our religion is about. None of these kids even knew what I was talking about when I brought up the Eddas and the Havamal (I would have thought they knew what they were at least). Beating them down would be satisfying, for a bit... but that is exactly what these people want. Someone to fight. And we won't get rid of them just by beating them all up. It will simply make them more resolved to hold on to their ideas. A good smack wouldn't hurt, but a smack to get their attention, to show them that what they consider "sacred" isn't what they claim it to be.

I think, as a whole, we need to be in the public more. We need to educate people on what the basics of our religion is, what we stand for and what the neo-nazi's are doing to it. I would like to be able to wear my religious jewelry without someone asking me if i'm a White Supremist, but I doubt that is going to happen any time soon. As it stands, I have to tell people what it's about and hope they pass the info on.

Karl, i totally agree with you, but an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. I would just walk away from all of it at first. If they continue, file harassment charges. If they still continue, get a restraining order against them and if they go against it, get their butts put in jail. Instead of retaliating with violence, just out wit them. If they are in jail they can't do anything. Plus the hefty fines that they could get from disobeying the law, might make them think twice about doing you and your tribe harm.
