HELPPPP ! I don't like my DH name suggestions !!!?
MY DH wants to name our baby Linda after his Mom.
I want a Native American Name like : Shawnee, Dakota or Cree because I am Native American.
He wants to pick the baby's name because he said he had no choice in naming his first daughter.
How can i talk him out of this ? or how do we compromise ????
My husbands first daughter was with another woman.

Use both--a Native American name and Linda. One will have to be the middle name, and you two will have to come to a consensus about that, but it's not your fault that your hubby had no say in his first daughter's name, and that doesn't entitle him to naming your child whatever he wants without your input. Maybe you can flip a coin as to which name will be her first name.

I've got to say Linda is a much better name than Shawnee, Dakota and Cree put together....
From what you said it sounds like you pretty much were the decider with your first daughters name. Therefore I think its only fair that you let your husband choose the name this time. You ARE the one who needs to compromise because (and I'm not trying to offend you) but it sounds like you want everything your own way and your husband to not have a say. I might be wrong but from what I have just read, this is the impression I'm getting.

I like incorporating your culture into your name...I would compromise.
Come up with some Native American names that you both like (of the ones you named above I like Shawnee or Cree the best) and you can put his mother's name in the middle or use a related name like Adelinde or Calandra. I would use Cree for the last two though b/c they are kinda long. Good luck!
Cree Linda
Cree Adelinde
Cree Calandra
Shawnee Linda
Shawnee Adelinde
Shawnee Calandra

Are you Shawnee? How 'bout Dakota? Cree maybe? What tribe are you? If you are going to name any child a "Native American" name, wouldn't it make sense to name the child something from the tribe you descend from? Makes sense to me.
As far as your argument with your DH, I'm sure there's something you can work out but it's a good idea to work on the name together to come up with something you both like.

Gaby based on the wording of the question, I'm assuming that the asker is not the mother of her husband's first daughter ("He said he had no choice in naming HIS first daughter"...not OUR first daughter).
I'd compromise. Give her an aboriginal first name and Linda as a middle name. Most people generally use family names for middle names rather than firsts so there's no confusion. His mom is still honoured and you get an aboriginal name for your daughter.
