America was stolen from it's citizens with the adoption of the declaration of independence.

Once independence was declared, the continental congress was the de facto government. The congress was stuffed so full of their family members and other relatives it was more of a family gathering than a town hall meeting.

I don't believe for one second than congress or the senate has the skill or intelligence or the ability to fix anything.

Absolutely, they care not for their constituents. They care only for the power and 'glory' of being part of the royalty.

BTW, the following bit of news, which nicely sums the attitude of the politicos, was nicely covered up:

This is NOT the attitude of a representative but the attitude of an overlord. The Senators and House representatives were elected to _represent_ the citizens of the U.S.A., NOT to oversee them.

if people can do their job correctly , everything will be fine. we simply spent time commentin on politicians and do not do anything concrete to help them do good for people. Security for example has become a big question mark because , people have not spent enough time and effort in helping their brethern to come up.
