Now Schumi is back, do you think it would be better if Mika Hakkinen, his long time contender, also be back?

No, that would be a very bad idea. Hakkinen was mentally finished as a driver when he quit...for most of the races in the second half of his last season (once he had decided to retire) he just didn't make an effort. His showings in the DTM show that racing is something he wants to do for fun occasionally, not as a career.

For a couple of years, in a fantastic car, Hakkinen was capable of challenging Schumacher. The rest of his career in not-world-beating machinery is a bit more indicative of the true level of his driving ability - nowhere near Schumacher class.

No. Hakkinen was an excellent driver. But he could only compete with Schumacher in a McLaren that was far better than the Ferrari at the time.

Haha... that would be awesome if he did. But I don't think Mika's gonna make a comeback. He's not been jumping into F1 cars at the first opportunity. He'll probably stay retired from F1

    Haha, No.

Mika is a different animal- his wife's disclosure that he drank himself stupid for a year after retirement to get F1 out of his system says it all. Mika- superb driver on his day, questionable when the car wasn't pitch perfect, is better strolling around the pits looking content, it suits him!

considering that I don't believe Mika has stepped into an F1 cockpit since he retired at the end of 2001, it would be pointless for him to attempt a comeback.

  • Yes that would be nice, but Mika is happy doing his Rally driving. but i believe Michael will do well in 2010.
