How many Gods created Adam and Eve?

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness,..."

Who does He mean by "us?" Whose likeness does God mean when He says, "our likeness?" Why doesn't He just say "My" likeness? Why aren't the words "us" and "our" capitalized?

Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

To whom is God speaking? Does he have peers? To what group of godlike beings is he refering?

HE speaks to the angels, and even in scripture, angels are constantly called "elohim" which this word constantly gets translated as "god" and "gods" depending upon the context of the passage

Read Proverbs, chapter 8, verses 1-31 (Prov8:1-31) wherein "wisdom" speaks of being the co-creator with "god". Wisdom is translated as Sophia, wisdom is the feminine principle of the godhead. Which clarifies the meaning in Genesis when you read that god said "let us create man in our image; male and female created (god) them".

There are two main ways of understanding this:

    1) This is an early depiction of the Trinity. God is still one, but there are three persons. This is a little bit of stretch because whomever wrote Genesis would not have likely had a concept of the Trinity. Still it was a popular choice for Christians during the middle ages and remains one for some Christians.

    2) This is a way of speaking because of how big and powerful god is, akin to the "royal we." There is no concept of multiple persons/entities, but it is merely a depiction of the royalty or vastness or infiniteness of God. The passage continues, when God is not speaking, to refer to God in the singular ("so God made man in his image..."). This is the more preferred interpretation among Jews and most Christians of this passage.

Jesus Christ helped God create Adam and Eve as his "master worker":

    (Proverbs 8:22-23)

22 “Jehovah himself produced me as the beginning of his way, the earliest of his achievements of long ago. 23 From time indefinite I was installed, from the start, from times earlier than the earth.

    (Proverbs 8:30,31)

30 then I came to be beside him as a master worker, and I came to be the one he was specially fond of day by day, I being glad before him all the time, 31 being glad at the productive land of his earth, and the things I was fond of were with the sons of men.

Genesis 1 (Amplified Bible) 26God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. The GODHEAD......Yahweh Yireh--GOD The Father, Yeshua/Jesus--GOD The Son, And GOD The Precious Holy Spirit...............THREE SEPARATE, DISTINCT PERSONALITIES------ONE GOD.

Genesis 3 (Amplified Bible) 22And the Lord God said, Behold, the man has become like one of Us [the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit], to know [how to distinguish between] good and evil and blessing and calamity; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live [a]forever--The GODHEAD......Yahweh Yireh--GOD The Father, Yeshua/Jesus--GOD The Son, And GOD The Precious Holy Spirit...............THREE SEPARATE, DISTINCT PERSONALITIES------ONE GOD.

Ernie has it pretty close. All three aspects of God in the Godhead. The fact that the pronouns are not capitalized is meaningless here. This happens alot in the Bible and simply forces the reader to stop and think about who is speaking and who is being spoken to.

Jesus was not created by God, He is God. John tells you in chapter one all about that. Being spiritually blind does not help in understanding the nature of God.

There is only one Lord God Almighty.

God is revealed in His word, the Bible, as a Father (Yahweh), Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. They are not different Gods as Muslims like to think/say, but are different revelations of the One God.

    Plus, there were many angels.

Jehovah God created Jesus his son. Then they made man in their image. See, this is what gets me of the people who believe in the Trinity. How can they read the Bible and still believe that there are 3 in one. I mean, really? Common sense is not hard to grasp.

    Have a great day.

Some people say that it was written in a way Kings talked in the old times.

But I can't give a clear explanation for that.

However, trinity is in the bible. "Baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit". Holy spirit was upon Jesus when he was baptized, there was a voice from heaven "This is my son, in whom I am pleased" etc.
