Christians, when you celebrate Christmas, do you do it for the ritual belief, or?

because you actually believe Jesus was born now?

Update:

No Chance: Why would you assume its an Easter Bunny as my avatar. Looks like a regular old bunny to me. And I've never heard anyone say that it couldn't be Jesus's real birth because of the lack of snow on the ground.

I do know that the Church co-opted this day from various pagans to maintain a higher level of control over a wider population, and make for easier conversions.

But that's irrelevant, I think Christmas is a wonderful tradition with or without religious overtones as a way to celebrate love and family, and psychologically it helps to ease the transition to the dark brutal winter.

I was just asking why people celebrated it, because it is well known that its not actually the birth of Christ, and that it has pre-christian origins.

I celebrate Christmas on December 25 like the majority of peeps out there. I do not believe that Jesus was born on this particular date however. No one knows for certain when Jesus was born. December 25 was actually the day of a pagen holiday. The Christians adopted the date to celebrate Jesus's birth in order to Christianize the world during the reformation.

This from a person with an easter bunny avatar.......I think I need therapy.

I celebrate the birth, death and ressurection of Jesus Christ everyday of My Life.

Since no one knows when He was truly born, now is as good a time as any to commemorate it.

BTW for all those geniuses who say it could be now because there would be snow on the ground.....it rarely snows in bethlehem

The weather for Christmas in Bethlehem this year is going to be partly cloudy with a high of 64f and a low of 44f

I celebrate Jesus' birthday on Christmas, but I am fully aware that it's not his real b-day. I do the Christmas stuff more out of tradition (so, yes, kind of a ritual) and the fact that it's fun, and that I get to spend more time with my friends and family. :)

I believe it is because Jesus was born on Christmas Day in the pure and simple form.

Nobody actually knows the exact birthdate of Jesus

But it is this day that we choose to celebrate.

We dont do Christmas for presents, we do it for Jesus!

We're celebrating the birth of Jesus

Now go crawl back into your hole and leave us Christians alone during Christmas.
