News Flash: Pacquiao vs Mayweather is back on! Top Rank agrees with Olympic testing. Any thoughts?
The fight came close to not making it. Pacquiao has always agreed to have blood drawn as long as it doesnt interrupt with his training. He wants blood drawn from the press conference to the same day after the fight. The Mayweather camp, however, insisted they want a random testing of at least 3 times from now till the fight ala Olympic style even when they are training. Bob Arum agreed with the negotiations to have Pacquiao be drawn three times, not the preliminary agreement of 2 times. Now Mayweather has no reason to make any more excuses. Top Rank has agreed with the principles just a few hours after the fight was almost in jeopardy. Any thoughts?
This is the first site that release the new info:
@ Jose, bro Pacquiao did agree for the testing the moment it was suggested. It was the Mayweather camp who made the changes of random testing. :-)
@ Khalil, lol! I'll answer your question bro since you answer mine! :-)
lol @ gr. I know I ruined the fun for the Mayweather fans. i am such a kill joy!
@ bicol express, you're welcome! :-)
By the way I have some Bicolano blood in me! :-)
@ Normen, I agree bro. It reminds me a bit of the Duran vs Leonard bout.
@ balbino, yeha i got to excited! lol

This is great news. The Pac camp made the right move. It was a sly move on Floyd' behalf to request the drug testing, and he was trying to gain a bit of an advantage. But in principle, Floyd has the moral upper hand. It may be unprecedented in boxing but it's hard to say it's unfair, since Floyd gets the tests too. And you can't say that Manny will be clean because he was clean in the past (I'm not saying he isn't, but you can't make claims based on the past). Whether or not Floyd Sr. drugged is irrelevant. Floyd is probably hoping that a blood test will harm Manny more because his style is more offensive vs. defensive, but it's hard to quantify that.
I hope the fight is settled now with no more complaints from either side. I guess Bob Arum decided not to be the grinch that stole Christmas. :)

This is great. The moment we've all been waiting for, for a very very long time. And Jon I never said Pac was scared of Mayweather, I actually have a boxing IQ OVER 60. So I hope you don't think I would say that lol. I heard it may take place in Cowboys stadium and from what I understand that's where you live correct? Maybe you will be blessed to see the "Fight for Ages" in person.

Wow....This is nothing new....I been saying all night yesterday that the Mayweather's released press to dupe the public....
Pacquiao has already agreed to blood-testings but refuses to take it 48 hours before the fight and wanted to have it done immediately after the fight instead...but the Mayweather's kept insisting so they released a press that Pacquiao doesn't want to take Olympic style blood-testings...It was pretty much a move to make Pacquiao look bad...they are defaming Pac...
it's funny how the public are easily fooled.....
the fight is still on hold...but Pacquiao "Never" refused to take Olympic drug testing...he's willing to do it but they're just against taking it 48 hours before the fight.....

This is a good thing. Manny's camp, in my opinion, should have agreed to the testing the very moment Floyd suggested it, but it's good to see that he finally did.
I also had a feeling that Bob Arum wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to make more money in one fight than he's ever made with any fight he's promoted/co-promoted. It's about money with Bob, always has been.
this will also silence the Mayweather camp about this.
Now, with the testing being done, let's see to it that this fight does indeed happen. May the best man win!

Don't get too excited Jon!
I think the Mayweather's camp will not agree that Pacquaio will only have SCHEDULED DRUG TESTING!!!
Don't get me wrong bro because Floyd's Camp may insist for a RANDOM DRUG TEST, and somehow it makes sense.
Doing a SCHEDULED TEST can connote that a tainted boxer (or anyone that will undergo a scheduled test) can play with the calendar and have a favor in his side. I mean SCHEDULING a DRUG TEST is forfeiting the idea to be truly transaparent by playing with the alledge intake of the drug.
Also, the thing that MAnny is afraid of needles? How come he has plenty of tattoos?
Anyway, Im a big Pac-Fan but let's not get too excited about that news, let's all be vigilant and reasonable!

Good news. It still bewilders me that it took so long and so much drama had to be involved with the blood testing, they really should have agreed to it from day one. Let's hope this testing becomes more of a habit in boxing.
EDIT: JON!!!! I've re-read the article several times, I can't really find a quote or statement that says the fight has been back on. I have check numerous sports sites and boxing forums/articles and none of them too have word like your article says up there. I really don't think the fight is back on, maybe that source is just saying that because of miscommunication, but I want more confirmation, keep a look out when you visit boxing news sites.

Well I don't see a problem with Mayweather Jr.'s demand to include Olympic style drug testing in the contract. He agreed upon taking it also. Many top athletes partake in it. Pacquiao even though agreeing to taking the test, has tainted his image and filled it with speculation. Not saying he does take enhancing drugs, but if he were to depend on them, he will not in this match. Why even make it a issue to begin with? Being uncomfortable with needles is no excuse. Dodging this match for either boxer would destroy their image and legacy. Freddie Roach's comment that Pacquiao doesn't need Mayweather Jr. and doesn't care if this match happens or not is bogus. In no way is Mayweather Jr. dodging Pacquiao when expectations and demand are so high. If this match weren't to accrue many old and new boxing fans will be very disappointed with the sport.

Great news!!! Why didn't Pacquiao just agree to this in the first place? Is it a coincidence that this whole saga has brought massive attention to the fight?
Mayweather was trying to annoy Pacquiao's team but I don't think he was making excuses, he just wanted a level playing field and to make sure both fighters were clean which is how it should be. This is the first time I have ever known a sportsman or woman ask for more drugs testing and get berated for it!!!
Still well don't to Pacquiao for agreeing to Mayweathers terms.

The latest news is that the Pacman and Bob Arum do not agree on the blood tests demands of the flighty Floyd and his more flighty father Floyd Sr.

Now we'll see what the Mayweathers have to say about it. I think they'll increase the frequency of the drug-testing in order to further stifle and jeopardize the agreement. If that happens, Floyd loses a fan of his. I'm a big fan, but I just don't think that Floyd is being legitimately reasonable about the fight. If he wants to back out, then just back out. No need to make the opponent a look like a cheater if he's the one who doesn't want the bout.
