Do you believe your horse will "go to heaven" or meet you again in an after life?
Do you think you will be meeting your horses again in an after-life?
I guess this is sort of a legitimate back way to asking you guys what your religious beliefs are LOL.
But in all honesty, whether you believe in "God" or heaven or whatever, do you believe you will meet your horses again on the other side?
I'm not sure about after lives but I do believe that all animals are equal as living things, so if there is an after life for one species, we will all be there (not just humans). I'm wondering if it isn't "heaven" per se, but all our souls going to another dimension, or maybe even another dimension on another planet or alternate universe.
I'm not really sure of my religion (I have my own thoughts and beliefs, and I have yet to find an exact religion that I fit into... although I mostly fit into Paganism).
I honestly don't see how so many people fail to think for themselves and just agree to conform to a single religion and it's beliefs, but that's another (non-horse related!) discussion entirely.
So do you or do you not believe you will meet with your horses again in an after life of some sort?
This is an opinion question, no TDs please.

There are over 6 billion humans on our planet. To assume that there is only one that you could have a functional relationship with is a bit naive. If you're lucky, you still find the person appealing after the honeymoon period, and the rest is work to keep that going. A "soul mate" is a nice idea, but i don't think it's at all realistic.

i'm like you, i can't see how so many people can call themselves a certain religion. i think in doing that, people fail to think for themselves. they grow up learning what's "Right" or they find that 3 things of that religion apply to them, so they all of the sudden shove their beliefs aside to go with a certain religion. just because they believe three things, miraculously that makes everything of that religion "right". i think for a person to actually find a religion they fit into, it has to be a huge coincidence. actually recently i found out i have a LOT of buddhist beliefs? never would have thought that one! but that's a whole 'nother topic. i'm way off course LOL!
anyways...to your actual question lol
i believe in a sort of after life-i believe in reincarnation and essentially karma. i believe the actions in a certain life lead to where you're placed (or what you are) in your next life. i think we all have purposes to our current life we need to fullfill and our soul has a purpose that needs to be fullfilled, whether it gets accomplished in this life or the next. after that's accomplished, who knows what happens. i haven't gotten that far yet. back on topic...along those lines, i think that if we do something wrong in our "quest" in one life, we're strategically placed in our next life to understand why that was right or wrong. essentially, that's karma. rewards for the good, punishment for the bad. despite all of the changes, becoming a new person, animal, insect, whatever we may become, we can still vaguly remember our past lifes. they may come in the form of deja vu, a dream, a vision, whatever. anyway, the point to this madness is i think all people, insects, animals, birds, everything is created equal because we're all souls. i think a person may become a lion, a lion a butterfly, a butterfly a fish, anything. we're all just souls. so saying we're above any other species is just wrong. so i guess if i did believe in an afterlife, i would say yes, we all go to the same place. but because i believe in reincarnation, i think we could meet again, but the meeting again would be more of a coincidence. bumping into each other years later. i think there would be some form of rememberence; the connection would still be there. maybe it would be vague "do i know you from somewhere?" maybe it would be obvious "we just clicked". who knows.
ha, that was fun. sorry you had to read all of that lol

Thank you Timeless Hocus for making me cry with that poem.
I'm agnostic despite my upbringing of a relgious family. My belief is that if a higher power (which I call God, catholic household) gave us life, then the ultimate praise to Him is by living life to it's fullest.
I believe in an after life. I hope there is an afterlife. And should there be an afterlife, I hope all my animals that I have lost and will lose along the years of my life will be there to greet me on the other side.
God forbid that I should go to any Heaven in which there are no horses. ~R.B. Cunninghame Graham, letter to Theodore Roosevelt, 1917

I was going to see my horse who was with a girl a few hrs away on the spur of the moment. I wanted to show her to friend of mine and decided at the last minute it was too far, it would be dark when I arrived and I had to drive up a steep mountain range and I wanted to save fuel. She died the next day a Sunday after being on a trail ride unknowns to me until the Tueasday. When I was told I took her saddle, bridle and brushes I had left to my room and slept with them on my bed. I was devastated I hadnt gone to her when my instincts had being pulling me there. I may sound crazy but I felt when she was with me I could feel every bit of her and I could hear her knicker hello when i opened my door facing the backyard. I felt when she wasnt there and knew she was up the mountain I felt it in me its so hard to describe. 2 wks after she died I had the weirdest dream that I'll always remember it was so real. I rode her along the beach but she had no body and her mane fell on the opposite side and spoke to a faceless man I cant remember what he said but I rode her across the water to a place where all animals and humans were having a celebration and nobody spoke words it was all just like mental telepathy ot something and I was having so much fun and then a bell (like a school bell) rang and I had to go. After that I didnt feel her anymore and I missed her so much. That was about 10yrs ago and I hope I'll see her one day.

I'm a Methodist, and yes, I do believe that.
I believe in the whole "Rainbow Bridge" idea.
http://www.minibreeders.com/horsieheaven/
And even if it's not true, it really gives me a sense of peace in my future and for all the horses I've lost.
"By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.
They trot through the grass without even a care,
til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.
For just at that second, there's no room for remorse.
As they see each other...one person...one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over...together."
@hellaponygirl-I really like your answer! :]

Well.... I'm agnostic, so i really don't believe much. I don't believe in the bible, the devil, that jesus was a saint, etc. I believe in "god"... well kind of, it's really hard to explain what i believe. I definitely don't believe in the Christian or Catholic god. But i think that maybe there was a creator or some sort and that the creator might still be here watching over us. But... on the other hand, i completely believe in evolution, so i guess the easiest thing for me to say is; I don't know.
Religion is something that i've decided not to think about until i'm dead. Although i think about it a lot, i refuse to make decisions without proof and research. I'm not the kind of person who can live on assumptions or theories. And the only time that i can find out for sure about any of this is when i'm dead, so that's when i'll make my decisions.
Since i was very young, I've always believe in "ghosts" and "angels." I even used to see what i thought were ghosts, but i was very young, so who knows if it was my imagination or not. But there was one that i saw on a hike one day and i still remember "him" perfectly: orange t-shirt, khaki shorts, and a blurred out face. My childhood memories of things like this are the only reason i'm not an Atheist.
I was raised Christian and my whole family are very faithful Christians, and my best friend is a very devout Catholic. So i don't get a lot of support about my beliefs, or lack there of. Whenever religion is brought up, they either change the subject or try to recruit me. But, as Stuart Chase said: "For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible." And i guess i'm somewhere in between a believer and non-believer.
I've always felt that organized religion has been extremely corrupted over the years. People have bent it and manipulated it so that it fits what they want, regardless of the truth. Like Gandhi said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
And as for the horse, i assume they go where we go. Whether it be the underworld, haides, heaven, hell, another planet, another dimension, or simply blackness, i think/hope that all living things end up in the same place. Another one of my favorite saying is this one; "If heaven doesn't have horses, then I ain't going." For me, that is the complete truth. I refuse to exist in life or in death without them, they're my world and i'm dedicating my life to protecting them (I'm going to be one of those animal cops, the kind that focuses only on abuse and neglect cases of animals). Heaven would be quite boring to spend an eternity without horses. But don't even get me started on heaven, that's a whole other rant lol.
Feel free to email me if you want to discuss this further. I really don't have anyone who shares my beliefs or is willing to discuss them without trying to recruit me. peanut101652@yahoo.com
EDIT::: There is a passage somewhere in the Bible that talks or Jesus's second coming. It says that he and his buddies (don't know what they are called) ride down on horses from heaven. So apparently, according to the bible, heaven has horses.

No. I don't believe in heaven or a conscious after life. I do believe that our energy lives on (well it's a scientific fact, not a belief) and enters a fetus (energy is recycled because it cannot be created nor destroyed), but I think that when we die and our energy leaves our body, that our minds aren't stimulated anymore, and die too. But I guess it's a possibility that we sorta "dream" after we die. That would be the ****, because I love dreaming.
By the way, I do believe in the possibility of a God, but at the moment I don't have faith.

of course i do!!! (: im a christian. no specific religion because my family has beleifs from all religions. but i am a stroong believer in God. i (try to) pray every night/during the day when i need to. but i believe i will meet my horse. i mean all living things have souls, esspecially horses, how do you think they love us? or people can "whisper" to them? i believe i will meet all of my animals again. maybe not the fish but who knows, maybe they do have lives like nemo ;P

Ecclesiastes 3:18-222 (NKJV) 18I said in my heart, "Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals."
19For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity.20All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust.21Who _ knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?22So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?
This is the only verse I've seen about it. I don't understand 100% (who does), but I don't believe anything bad happens to animals when they die. And I like to think that we see them again.

Yeah, I do. Horses are living creatures & equal to anyone else. A lot of people I talk to tell me "No, it's only for people, animals aren't important." I just ignore them.
& just like you I kind of have just made up my own religion, don't completely fit in with anyone.
