How to use last.fm, the music website?

Due to the shutdown of imeem, I have to find an alternative. last.fm seems to be a popular music website. I signed up for an account, however, I couldn't figure out how to play music...

For example, I searched for a Japanese song named "Kiseki no Kakera" and arrive at the page http://www.last.fm/music/Amamiya%2BSayuri%2B%2526%... . It says "2,566 plays (247 listeners)", so I think they do have the music, but I couldn't find a button to play it. There is a "Play Radio" button, but clicking it will give me something completely unrelated.

I got similar behavior for many other songs. How am I suppose to play a song I searched for? How does "Radio" suppose to work?

The point of Last.fm is not to necessarily provide music for you but instead keep track of what you've listened and are listening to and help you find other artists that are similar to what you like. Although some artists do have 30 second clips of their songs or complete songs on their profiles, last.fm suggests you download a scrobbler (http://www.last.fm/download) which automatically keeps track of what you listen to on Windows Media Player, iTunes, or whatever else you use to listen to music on your computer. That's a much easier way to build your library because it also logs tracks you've listened to since you've used that media player.

The radio is a smaller, not too popular feature on last.fm, if you ask me. If you tune in to say a Jonas Brother radio, (before anyone eats me alive, this is the first thing that came to mind! :D) you'd mostly get songs by them along with songs by Miley Cyrus and all the Disney channel kids. Basically anything similar to the artist.

I have been a member for a little bit over a year and was confused by how it worked for a while too. It's a little confusing at first but I love it. I enjoy the fact that you can see your library expand and your daily and overall charts of your most played artists and songs change right before your eyes. You can even meet people with similar tastes as yourself, if you're into that social networking stuff.

The FAQ page is really helpful if you ever run into a problem: http://www.last.fm/help/faq

Ha, it actually answers all your questions but I enjoyed answering this so it's okay. :)

You can't listen to a full song on last.fm. I have tried it and then I read somewhere that this isn't possible. You can listen to a 30 sec version of it, but the goal of last.fm is to make you buy the song. I recommend youtube.com for you to listen to music for free. There you also have the option of making a play list (you have to sign up first) and listening to a lot of songs at once. Good luck!
