Of course OB is important. It's the key to people & their dogs having a happy lifetime together. IMHO every dog should be able to pass the CGC. Civil with other people & dogs, basic doggie manners, basic commands & basic leash manners.

Yes, obedience training is very important. My dogs are Border Collies, working dogs, all 5 of them. Looking to buy a new dog from our Canadian National Sheepdog trainer this spring.

I am fortunate enough to have moved out of So. California. UHave2Be, where do you live in So. Cal? I use to live in Palmdale, Ca. Will be going down there this Spring to stay with a friend for awhile.

What I think it that a purchasing a dog that isn't genetically fvcked in the head is fundamentally important, as you only work with the raw material that nature gave the dog.

Yes, obedience training is vital because it ensures the dog's behavior is always under the control of its owner & it will never be a nuisance or threat to dogs or humans.
