What is Wrong with my laptop?

1) Getting BSOD almost everytime I'm on my computer, with the message KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

2) Disk check everytime I turn it on. Usually cancel, but I NEVER had this problem befoe.

3) Constant freezing of start menu, desktop, or the whole computer for 5 to 10 minutes. Usually I have to take out battery and put back (Ik, bad habit, but I just cant wait.)

4) I installed Photoshop recently, and everytime I run it, it will work for a while and then it will freeze, and BSOD shows up or crash.

5) I have uninstalled Photoshop, and permanently deleted it, but my laptop is still less than before.

6) Can't run safe mode with networking? The comp just freezes on the Loaded: <list of drivers> Please wait..

I have windows vista home basic (tears, i want premium..). Ill get the other stats later, but can someone tell me what to do?

This blue screen is usually caused by a bad block (sector) in the paging file on your HD, a virus, a disk controller error, or failing RAM.

Starting from the easiest, least invasive:

1Run an antivirus sweep be careful what you download

    2do a chkdsk /r OR a scandisk

3 do a hardware dignostics which is usually an option in the "one time boot menu" (f12 for some people)

4 shutdown take one stick of memory out. reboot, see if you get the error. If so you know it was either a bad stick or a bad slot. Try the other stick in the same slot.

    For instance:

we know Stick one slot one stick2 slot2 fails

    try Stick one slot only

    try stick 2 slot one

    stick 2 slot 2 only

    try stick one slot 2

This will tell you if you have bad ramm or a bad motherboard.

If you have a friend with a similar model, put his HD in your notebook. MOST drives have similar format (2.5 ultra ata) but come with different "sleds so they slide into the different model computers. (you may need to put your "sled" on his drive)

If worse comes to worse, you may have to reinstall windows. (unlikely)

    try stick 2 slot 2

maybe you should go to the start menu and do a system restore to a point before it was messed up. if it has a virus i don't think it will solve that problem but if it was just messed up from photoshop it might.
