cleaning/freshening a stuffed animal?

i have a stuffed sheep from bath and body works, it was VERY soft, it says "surface washable, filled with 100% polyester fibers" but its not really DIRTY, but it does grab bits of things and i absolutely cannot get them out. so naturally, its also not as soft anymore. would washing help? and how could i get it fluffy and soft again?

I am NOT afraid of the washing machine!! Put little sheepy in a lingerie bag, wash on gentle and air dry. Look, it's not going to get worse than it is now, right??

I would use a gentle brush with some wool lite shampoo for those soft stuffed animals and just clean it well. Then use some downy fabric softener or what ever brand you have on hand. Mix some of that with water and use your soft bristle brush to coat your stuffed sheep - but not get the color of the fabric softener embedded in it. Then either put it in your dryer for a few minutes like 15 to fluff it up or use a hair dryer to dry. Hope that will work.

hi..u could try cleaning it like we do silk (fake) flowers...just put it in a bag with table salt and shake it several times....it usually removes dust. Or just throw it in the dryer on an unheated cycle for a bit. good luck.
