How Would You Fix the Healthcare System?
By "fix," I mean that we make sure that everyone has access to VERY affordable, high-quality healthcare. Is there a way to do this that is smarter than what seems to be Congress' attempt? Ideas?

we just need to have free healthcare like everywhere else. They get quality care and don't have the worry of not being able to pay your medical bills. This place is just money hungry and doesn't care about anything else. They want people to believe that free healthcare is "low quality" but it isn't. I know plenty of people who prefer the healthcare in other countries than to here because they get better care and it's free.

Everyone has healthcare. All they need to do is go to one of the clinics that charge on a sliding scale basis, or visit the ER. This new program won't provide any better health care than people are currently receiving. Unfortunately, tax payers will be donating more of their dwindling dollars toward the new system simply because those receiving it won't be able to pay for the premiums, regardless of how low they may be. Consider what many countries are like where socialist health care currently exists. What should be addressed is the continued rising cost of health care. Until that is controlled, no amount of finagling by the government will be of benefit. Ask yourself how many decent doctors are going to accept the pittance the government program will reimburse them. Many already don't accept Medicare patients because of the paperwork involved and the minute reimbursements. The new program will not encourage them to accept less if they cannot afford their liability insurance, the high cost of qualified staff, rent, etc. Doctors will leave the profession in droves if forced to do so.
