I say buy the XBOX 360.
xbox 360: you may have to pay for your internet to play along with friends, but. microsoft does help prevent you from getting hacked by hackers, since you are paying for your connections. xbox has many great games as well to play with friends, like "call of duty", "Left 4 Dead" other big titles, xbox also has netflix. video game downloads, and better quality of memory space depending on what GB port you buy, you might start with the 20 GB, (which lasts a long time) or the 60GB or even the big one 120GB!! the choice is yours. the xbox 360 also gives you a chance to make your own xbox into your own personality sort, like creating your avatar. makin the xbox 360... YOU! make many friends, achievements by earning them in the games you play. the higher your gamer score is, the more it shows how much of a gamer you are, and how well you are at the game you play.
PS3: another great system made by a great company. unlike the 360, you do not have to pay for the internet, but makes your connection a bigger success for a hacker or viruses to come through since you are NOT paying for protection. but the internet is free. there are MANY great games for the ps3. that's not even owned by microsoft. the games has much impact on the memory space, because of the "blue ray" drive. your games for the playstation 3 will be much bigger, and more clear, including DVDs you may be able to watch BLUE RAY movies. now, the major flaw of the ps3, which not many people may notice. if you buy refurbished ps3, chances are you might have the old one. who knows is they have changed the insides around. as for the 360, everything remains, sony gave the new system a chance at start to be able to play "ps2" games, but also burns out the inside faster. if you are buying a ps3, please buy a brand new one.
Source(s): 100% nerd 100% blood of a worker of microsoft. also looked into differances in both systems for years to buy the systems, Gamestop, Funcoland, EB games, Target, Best Buy. i perfer you to buy them at gamestop, you'll have better discounts with amounts of things you buy there. but... if you want to save more money with better deals buying a USED system... from random people. then heres the site you want to buy systems from people. you might buy cheaper than stores www.craiglist.com - Micky-NikkiLv 41 decade ago
Ah, the eternal 360-PS3 debate.
I'm not a huge gamer, but I have a sort of unbiased viewpoint on which is the better system. And you want to know the truth? They're both great. The graphics are good, they have online capabilities and can play DVDs and whatnot.
In my opinion, the best way to determine which system to buy is to decide which system has more games that you like. A lot of games are released on both platforms, but some are not. Do some trolling, find out which games might not be available to which systems, and go from there.
You're going to get a thousand responses that all pretty much say the same thing. Typically gamers have their favorite system and their own reasons for liking it. But when you get right down to it, they're both very advanced, versatile systems and you'd be golden picking either one.
Or, you know, you could just get a Wii. :P Play Mario games, wave the little stick thing around. Sounds like hardcore gaming to me...

Xbox360
1. Graphical differences on the two are minute, and usually end up with Xbox having better graphics since developers that develop for both consoles usually work on the 360 first since it has better texture handling than the PS3 and is easier to code for, then port to the PS3.
2. Online: The online for 360 is much more engaging. It comes with a price, but it really is a much more vibrant community than the paltry PS3
3. Every time you buy a PS3, god kills a kitten. It's on google.

PS3 vs. XBOX 360
Microsoft has an impressive gaming console in their Xbox 360 and there are some amazing titles exclusive to the Xbox, but in the end you get less bang for your buck when compared to the Playstation 3:
(1) Online gameplay: You can use the Playstation Network's online features without having to pay a subscription fee like you do for the Xbox. I was never a big online gamer but now I enjoy playing against opponents online.
(2) Internet connectivity: Built-in wireless internet connectivity on the PS3 is a much better bet than having to buy a wireless network adapter for the Xbox. Of course you can simply rely on a wired Ethernet connection, but this might be inconvenient depending on your set-up.
(3) High-Def Video: The Playstation 3 doubles as a Blu-Ray player. Microsoft bet on the wrong horse when they were hoping that HD-DVD would come out the winner in the high-def format wars. If you want a Blu-Ray player/video game system combo, the PS3 is a great device.
(4) Failure rate: The Xbox 360 has an absurdly high failure rate, with estimates ranging between 30 to 50% ([...]). I can't verify the numbers, but know from my friends who own the Xbox 360 that they've had a fair share of grief with their systems.
Microsoft does have a few edges, namely the upcoming Project Natal, unveiled at June's E3. While Natal may ultimately be one of the most amazing advances in video gaming, it unfortunately is still some time off from being implemented. That being said, the Playstation 3 is much more worth the cost than the Xbox 360 - at least for now.
FINAL THOUGHTS
[...] system that doubles as a Blu-Ray player. Keep in mind though that the bulk of money spent on the video game system will not be in the initial down payment, but the subsequent games, extra controllers (only comes bundled with one controller), and other peripherals/accessories. [...]. Sony's refusal to incorporate backwards-compatibility for PS2 games on the PS3, however, might make your gaming library obsolete in a few years, so if you have the money, you're best off going for the PS3 Slim. You won't regret it.

I think the PS3 is an overall better system. I own both and I play the PS3 way more than I do the 360. I think it has a better library of games and the free online is a big plus. Not to mention it doesn't break down every few months.

Depends on how much you want to spend. Xbox 360 charges each month or yearly for Live (i think around 6 bucks a month?) while PS3 online play is free. Xbox has a wider variety of games, and much better graphics, while some games are only available on PS3. Personally, I'd go with the Xbox as long as your willing to pay for it.

I have a PS3 and love it. Why? 1) It's really sturdy. Left it on for a week straight (stupidly) and it still runs great. I know other people who have it on 24/7 for months (not recommended though.) and it still runs awesome. 2) Free network, unlike the Xbox. You know, internet and multiplayer and all that jazz. It is a bit laggy, but it's dealable. 3) It really does have better support than xbox. hands down. 4) Blu-ray. 5) God of War. 6) PS home. really fun, free, place that resembles a better looking, but limited Sims.
The Xbox does have its perks like less lag and more of a variety of games, but the PS3 is popping out new games pretty quickly and a lot of them stand up strong against the Xbox games.

360. it has a better online marketplace and a larger community. plus every good modern game that has been made in the past 3 years is on that platform. plus you play old xbox games on it unlike the ps3 and ps2
