To anyone that has had knee surgery?

I am having knee surgery in two weeks, I know its a common surgery. If you have had this done I would appreciate hearing what it was like for you. How long before you were out and about again?

Update:

The kind of surgery I am having is a total knee replacment. I know I will be in the hospital 4 or 5 days. They are doing one knee then a couple months later doing the other one.

How long the recovery take depends on what type of surgery you are having. I have had 7 total surgeries on my knees and the recovery time was different for those.

I am assuming that since you mention that this is a common surgery then you are having arthroscopic surgery on your knee. I have had 5 scopes done on my knees. All scopes are done on an outpatient basis you will be in and out of the hospital on the same day.

For some of them all it was is the doctor went in and cleaned up old scar tissue and cartilage and the recovery for that was the easiest. I was on crutches for 3 days and then i started walking. I was only off work for 2 days (but i have a desk job)

For 3 of the surgeries I had scope done but they did a Lateral Release. This recovery is a bit longer and a bit harder than them just cleaning up the knee. I was on crutches for about 3 days as well but I was in physical therapy for 6 weeks to rebuild the muscles. The total recovery time for the Lateral Release is about 6 month to a year before you are back 100%

After getting any scope done on your knee the recovery time before you can get out and about is rather quick and the more that you use (move and stretch) your knee the better your recovery will be.

The last surgery that I had (number 6 on the right knee) was a major one and probably not what you are looking to have done. It was an open knee surgery and I was in the hospital for 2 days and on crutches for 6 weeks. I am 3 months post op and still working on recovering from that surgery.

She shall be quality. My husband had knee surgical procedure three years in the past and he is quality. Technology in this day and age are very secure. Don't fear. I understand she is worried and I additionally might be with any surgical procedure, however simply keep in mind, they do understand what they're doing and participate in knee surgical procedures day-to-day. They do have anyone who will watch over her critical indicators at the same time surgical procedure is in procedure. I'm certain they have got a quality workforce to guard her.
