help with my chocolate fondue?

merry xmas first of all. and alright i have 24 oz of ghirardelli semi sweet milk chocolate chips. i also have a chocolate fondue fountain.. do i just need to melt the fondue then transfer to the fountain? or will i need to add milk or cream , or something else to get it right?

    the instructions in my fondue fountain say to add a little vegetable oil to it.

    You really should melt the chips with some cream so that the chocolate stays smooth enough to flow through the fountain. For the best flavor, add a pinch of salt and a bit of coffee, yes, coffee. You can use it as part of the liquid. Coffee enhances chocolates flavor tremendously! It doesn't take much, a few tablespoons. And because chocolate chips have stabilizers in them to help them hold the chip shape, I'd run the mix through a staininer or sieve to make sure there are no little bits in there to plug up the fountain.

    A bit a vanilla extract also enhances chocolate's flavor.
