Why should we, as Christians, stand against homosexuality?

Homosexuality is an abomination against God, and even goes against the natural use of the opposite sex. Two cities were completely destroyed for homosexuality, because the whole city was given over to it. It is the Christians who have the power and authority with God to stop this from spreading across our land. If we don't stop it, God won't, because He gave us the authority to stop the devil and his agenda. I thank God this Christmas day for all the Christians on Yahoo, and let it be known that I am standing with you against Satan and his kingdom, and we will see the Kingdom of God continue to advance and increase, and millions of souls will be won for the Lord in the year of 2010. God bless you all with wisdom, revelation knowledge, and understanding as you seek the Lord. Philippians 3:10 is my Christmas present from God, and it will never end!

Update:

God made us perfect, sin made us imperfect. Jesus is the only way back to God. I do not hate homosexuals, my friend was one before I met him, and then he became a Christian. He died from AIDS in 1994. No one is ever born a homosexual, it is not a gene, but a choice.

None of these people so far have quoted any scripture, just personal opinion. So let me be the first to show you from the Bible why it is wrong.

Leviticus 18:22- "And you must not lie down with a male the same as you lie down with a woman. It is a detestable thing."

1 Corinthians 6:9-10- "What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom."

This one is the clincher because it even condemns those who support it:

Romans 1:24-32- [24 Therefore God, in keeping with the desires of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, that their bodies might be dishonored among them, 25 even those who exchanged the truth of God for the lie and venerated and rendered sacred service to the creation rather than the One who created, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; 27 and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error. 28 And just as they did not approve of holding God in accurate knowledge, God gave them up to a disapproved mental state, to do the things not fitting, 29 filled as they were with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, badness, being full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malicious disposition, being whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, insolent, haughty, self-assuming, inventors of injurious things, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, false to agreements, having no natural affection, merciless. 32 Although these know full well the righteous decree of God, that those practicing such things are deserving of death, they not only keep on doing them but also consent with those practicing them.]

Surprising? Not really. People these days just do what they want. The Bible says to hate what is bad and love what is good. The only problem is that hating what is bad is really hard sometimes. That is why it is of the utmost importance to rely on God, and not ourselves. (Proverbs 3:5-6; Jeremiah 17:5, 9) I personally know of a man who was a homosexual. He began to study the Bible and saw the need to change his life style. So he did. That doesn't mean that he suddenly started liking women; he still had cravings for the same sex. However, it can be likened to a person who quits smoking. The initial cravings still remain, but that doesn't mean he is still a smoker, does it? No. He fights those cravings for nicotine because he wants to stay alive and see his family grow. The same is true with homosexuality. Reliance on God will help to overcome those feelings.

LoveAlways is incorrect - there is no proof whatsoever f any "gay gene". In fact, all the best research, including that done by pro-homosexual groups, indicates that environmental, not genetic, factors influence the behavior. Plus, it isn't passing judgment to call a sin a sin. In fact, we are supposed to help guide others.

As for religion being the "cause of war". etc., well, that is utter BS, a lie made up by anti-religious bigots.

As for Don's comment, the Bible doesn't use that specific term, but it clearly and inarguably defines the behavior as a sin; men lying with other men or women with other women. That we have another word for it doesn't mean the Bible didn't discuss it. Invalid argument there.

Leo, Jesus did not say that two things were the whole of the law; He said that two things were the most important parts of the law. It isn't oppressing people to not welcome depraved behavior. Are you "oppressing" burglars if you prosecute them in court?

simpleman - The members of various churches are a part of society, and have every right to expect decent behavior, and moral standards.

    nunya - good response

star - you are right - there are other sins. However, that doesn't mean we should ignore this one.

Jehoel - you are correct - we can only ask God for help against the enemy. Also, reaching out to homosexuals is the answer. Not telling them they are fine the way they are, of course, but lovingly pointing out the issues, and helping them find a way past the behavior.

Finally, this poster never stated that we should hate anyone, and I am sick of that lie being used as an excuse for attacking people that call a sin a sin.

' It is the Christians who have the power and authority with God to stop this from spreading across our land. If we don't stop it, God won't, because He gave us the authority to stop the devil and his agenda.'

As christians, we have power and authority over satan in our individual lives.

the bible states clearly that with each passing generation, sin grows, wickedness grows.

we cannot stop the tide but what we can do is to preserve our faith and look after our own souls.

    it isn't just homosexuality ...

what about porn, love of money, pride and arrogance, sex sins, drugs and alcohol ... it goes on.

its obvious this cannot be stopped.

the bible says SIN will GROW = unstoppable.

honestly, i am quite sick of christians picking on a particular sin.

    merry christmas

    peace

"If we don't stop it, God won't, because He gave us the authority to stop the devil and his agenda."

God never gave us the authority to stop Satan. Only God has authority over Satan. Read Job and you will see God's authority over Satan.

Sounds to me you have been spending to much time listening to the false teachings of the catholic church. Only the catholics believe God has given them authority.

Would it not be better if we helped the homosexuals instead of dumping on them? We need to reach out to the homosexuals and help them stop the sin they are addicted to.

Jesus said "these two things are the whole of the law: To love God with your whole heart, whole mind, and whole soul, and to oppress your oppress your left-handed/red-haired/black/elderly female/homosexual neighbour as an abomination before God."

Oh wait, that's not quite what he said. But that's how pretend-Christians read it. Every group on that list has at some stage had members of them burnt alive by Christians for being an abomination before God.

And sadly, 'abomination' in the Bible, doesn't mean what the bigots think it does. For example, the Bible calls the stork an abomination, and a nocturnal emission. It just means 'not ritually clean.'

From their wicked oppression of their neighbours, you can identify the Christians who have abandoned God.

Hitting somebody with a frying pan misses the mark. They must, in there own time, come to the understanding that sets them free from the law of sin and death, even if it is named ignorance or contemporary living. God made some rules (law) and they never change, regardless of what human thought fancies. We must be aware of the constant lies that appear now as truth and maintain our ground. In thought, we always stand against ungodliness, and this is the straight and narrow path.

Jesus said to respect them. Which me must not drive them away. Let God judge. Just because you believe in God, dosent mean you can judge like him.

"Look at the plank in your own eye, before you look at the splinter in someone elses" Words said by the holy one.

    Happy holidays

With 31,000+ verses in the bible we need to ask ourselves why there is so much focus on the 7 that can be misinterpreted or spun to sound like they condemn homosexuality.

Interestingly if you do a word search for the word homosexual in the bible it is no where to be found.

Odd that the people who translated the bible made this mistake isn't it Ernie?

    Love and blessings Don

A Christian Church should take care of the rules for church members, not the rules for society or the nation.
