Catholics, do you Really think Dec.25 was Jesus' Birthday?
Was our Lord Really born on a freezing cold winter day? The only record of Jesus birth is in the Holy Bible, but the exact day is not mentioned. Your priests tell us that they are the only ones on earth qualified to interpret the Holy Bible. They tell us that December 25 is the day Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Is this a reasonable interpretation? What does the Bible say?
Luk 2:7-11 "And she brought forth her firstborn son; and she wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn... And there were shepherds in the same country abiding in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock... And an angel of the Lord stood by them...And the angel said unto them...I bring you good tidings of great joy...for there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord."
The shepherds were in their fields that night. That means their sheep were there eating the green grass in the fields. If you Google the weather in Israel, you will see that in December and January the temperatures average between 41 and 54 degrees farenheit. This time of year the sheep and the shepherds in Israel are not out in the fields. Much too cold.
So why did your priests use December 25 to be Jesus birthday celebration? Because in ancient Rome the Pagan Romans celebrated a festival to their Sun God, whose birthday was December 25. Your priests in those days did not want to make their people stop celebrating their pagan holidays to other gods, so they simply renamed that holiday "Christmas" and lied about Jesus being born that day.
Do you Really feel your priests are the only ones qualified to interpret the Holy Bible? Are they qualified at all?
Priests like you have been fooling the people for centuries by telling them they are too stupid to understand the bible, that only select churchmen are qualified to interpret it. In these last days God is opening our eyes to the truth. God wrote the bible for all of us, the common people too. Not just those in the Vatican who display all that gold, "the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions [which]--is not from the Father but is from the world." (1Jn 2:16 ESV)
To christoiglesia:
What? Did I hear you correctly? You have the audacity to claim that "...the Church...wrote the New Testament?" Unbelievable! The pinnacle of elitism! How would you account then for the following scriptures?
(2 Timothy 3:16) "All Scripture is inspired of God..."
The Church did not write the New Testament, rather the bible's authors were inspired of God to write God's words!
And then you say, "Christians really do not have the same interest in Pagan celebrations that the Jehovah Witnesses do. We only are concerned about Christian beliefs and practices."
Yet Dec.25 was originally the birthday celebration of Constantine's Sun God, and you mixed this pagan festival in with the sacred birth of our Lord Jesus. But God's Bible says this about the subject of mixing pagan and godly celebrations:
1Co 10:12,21 Wherefore, he that thinketh himself to stand, let him take heed lest he fall...You cannot drink the chalice of the Lord and the chalice of devils" (DRB)

It is wise to do research on the things you indulge in. Accurate knowledge of God and his son Jesus will guide you in the direction to take to be pleasing to them. Things steeped in pagan ritual or have pagan roots are displeasing to God and Jesus. It doesn't take a brain surgeon or rocket scientist to know that Jesus was not born in December. Simple research will show why and knowledge of the scriptures reveals that Jesus did not celebrate his birthday either. He only commanded us to observe the memorial of his death.

The Church does not say that December 25th is the day of Jesus' birth. It is the day we celebrate His birth. Christians really do not have the same interest in Pagan celebrations that the Jehovah Witnesses do. We only are concerned about Christian beliefs and practices.
According to the Bible the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth. Since the Church received its authority from Jesus, wrote the New Testament and canonized the entirety of the Scriptures it is reasonable to assume that the Church would be the ones with the authority to interpret. Let me put it this way, if one has a different interpretation from Christ's own Church then they should question their interpretation and trust the Scriptures that say the Church has the fullness of truth. For many people their pride prevents them from coming to the truth that is found through obedience to Christ's Church. God bless!

Knowing the exact day of Christ birth is not important and people are born every day on a cold day.
The Bible says those in Christ are all Priest. I let the Holy Spirit be my teacher and guide. I believe in many things the priest do not teach. Now as far as salvation, the priest have a good answer as long as they do not teach that good deeds alone will get you a ticket to heaven.
The ticket is Jesus Christ and he alone. No other ticket will work. Depending on good deeds to get you to heaven is like filthy rags the Bible says. Depending on Jesus Christ is what will get you there.

Catholics are well aware Jesus was not actually born on December 25th.
If you're suggesting we can't celebrate Jesus' birth, simply because we don't know the exact date - that's ridiculous!
There ARE people who don't know the exact date of their birth. . . does that mean they're wrong in picking a particular date and celebrating their birthdays on that date, even if it isn't the actual birth date? Of course it isn't wrong.
So neither is it wrong for the Church to pick a date on which the whole Church all over the world may celebrate the Birth of Christ in unison.

Xmas is more likely the con-ception; Birth is 9 mos later,
more likely around Rosh HaShanah: day no man knows,
culminating in day of atonement is vengeful, not merciful.
Not to mention the ascending + descending lineages of Mt 1 + Lk 3
both have "corruptible seed", and "born again" is of "incorruptible".
So in Hebrews 7:26 an high priest notably "became" seven things,
the first being "us", the seventh being "higher than the heavens",
and in the midst you'll also find "harmless" and "undefiled". Selah.
Come NOW, and let "us" reason together, it's
all "allegory" in both "covenants": Galatians 4,
"written aforetime for our learning": Rom 15:4;
also "mystery" to solve: noted over 20 times;
So then, allegoric mystery to solve in time, for
there's neither mystery nor time for it in eternity.

Western Christians first celebrated Christmas on December 25 in 336, after Emperor Constantine had declared Christianity the empire's favored religion. See edict of Milan.

The Church did write the New Testament, compiled the whole thing and made it available to YOU -- and you should pull your head out of your **** and learn some real Christian History instead of the bigotry you use as a crutch.

No, of course not. Dec. 25 is the day we celebrate the FACT that Jesus was born, not the DAY He was born (which has been lost; nobody knows the exact day.)

So why is this question directed at Catholics? All christians buy into the idea that Dec 25 is jesus's birthday. Just more Catholic-bashing.
