Im jewish and believe in Jesus. Is something wrong with me?

I dont know why but ever since i was around 8 or 9 i have believed in Jesus as my savior and the Jewish Messiah. I was forced to be barmitzvahed by my dad and i do not believe in any of that crap. I just believe in God and Jesus. My mom shares the same views too, she hates Judaism and even though she was born to Jewish parents she can techinically be not-jewish since she was never batmitzvahed and she believes in Jesus too. Just that sometimes i think somethings wrong with me because my friends who are mostly christian say "Your jewish! You can't say merry christmas or believe in jesus, Your jewish!." I dont know what religion i am. I would say im a messianic Jew BUT i don't like Jewish traditions and such like Hanukkah or Passover or Yom Kippur. I like Christmas, and Easter and other holidays better.

Is there something wrong with me? What am i considered? Should i just stop believing in Jesus?

There are millions of Jewish people who have come to realize that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah of the Old Testament. That He is Jehovah God in the flesh.

There is nothing at all wrong with you. God bless and Merry CHRISTmas

Wow... so many misconceptions in one question!

First of all, no-one can be forced to go through a bar mitzvah ceremony. All you had to to was have a serious talk with your rabbi and share your views. Did you ever honestly do that? If not, why ever not?

Second, you say you "do not believe in any of that crap," well.. I have to wonder about your Christian religious convictions if you are choosing to believe the G-d of Abraham and the scriptures which are the basis of your "Old Testament" are so much "crap."

Third, I presume your mother is over the age of 12, yes? That's when she became a bat mitzvah. She may never have had a ceremony, but that doesn't mean she never became a daughter of the commandments... that happens automatically when a Jewish girl turns 12 (age 13 for boys). That she believes in Jesus, as do you, make you both apostates to the faith of Judaism, but since you seem to think of it as so much balderdash, that shouldn't bother you.

Fourth, your friends are incorrect. If you believe in Jesus, you are Christian, not Jewish. And anyone can say "Merry Christmas!" since the wish is usually for the person you are greeting. That's like saying an Italian person can't wish an American a "Good Independence Day!" just because the Italian isn't American.

Fifth, technically, all religious Jews are "messianic," since we are waiting for the messiah. If you believe in Jesus as the messiah, you are Christian. Neither Passover or Yom Kippur are traditions, they are important religious holidays; yes, there is a difference.

Is there something wrong with you? As far as I can tell, you have some issues with your father and have turned upon the faith of your birth. If your belief in Jesus brings you spiritual joy, that's fine, but please remember his commandments to love G-d and love others. It's not exactly love to describe Judaism as "any of that crap." You should also learn to be more assertive. To go through with a bar mitzvah ceremony when you don't believe in the very precepts of Judaism, and to let your friends bully you about your beliefs... both are very, very wrong.

Is it just me, or does someone else smell a troll here?

The only thing that's wrong with you is that you don't understand that you can't be Jewish and Christian. Just get on with being a Christian (and I hope your mother can do so too) and that's it. Stop getting caught up in all the stuff about being Jewish - neither you nor she are Jewish, you believe something that isn't Judaism. The Jewish messiah is most decidedly not Jesus; the Christian messiah apparently IS Jesus and if you accept that theology, you're a Christian. It's fine - just drop all the Jewish stuff. It makes no odds whether your mother had a bat mitzvah ceremony or not - that merely marks what happens anyway, that a Jewish child becomes an adult and takes on the responsibilities. Your mother has chosen to go a different path so she's no longer Jewish. And nor are you.

No Jew is going to argue with you. We just know you're not Jewish and hope you'll stop saying you are. You've got a Jewish heritage, but you're a Christian. It's OK.

I'm jewish, and I believe in Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah and my Elohim (God) and savior. The reason you like Christmas and Easter is because you associate it with Jesus. It is good to want to do things that are about Jesus, but that is exactly the opposite of what you are doing. Your father should become a believer in Yeshua as his Elohim and savior, but you should not stop doing "jewish traditions" that are founded on Scripture. We are commanded as an act of obedience to Observe Hanukkah, Passover, and Yom Kippur. If we choose to reject those things, we are going against what Yeshua wants. In addition, Christmas and Easter are pagan in origin, and Yeshua hates Christmas and Easter, though he is happy when people who observe Christmas and Easter out of ignorance and are not being idolatrous, because he knows they are doing it out of love, but he wants them to stop observing those pagan holidays once they realize the truth about those holidays.

Do not become a christian who is hypocritical. Become a Nazarene Israelite. When they say you aren't a christian, they are implying that you are not a follower of Yeshua. If you follow Yeshua, you are a "christian". However, Nazarene Israelite is the true faith. There is Jew by ethnicity, and Jew by religion. If you are following Yeshua, you will realize that you can be both a jew and a "christian". Do not listen to ignorant and arrogant people who are racist and say jews can't be christians.

okay.. sounds to me like you are a Messianic Jew. i have actually taken an interest in the religion. but you should know that it is really a christian religion more than a jewish one. -i have taken a beating asking about Messianic Judaism lately. in fact they used to be known as Hebrew Christians, so i have been told anyways. and really it is probably better with the old name because "Messianic Judaism" is offensive to jews mostly in name but somewhat in roots as well. i guess because it came about by trying to convert Jews to Christianity.

but i believe you are free to be what religion you want. your beliefs are your beliefs, nobody can dictate that. what is important is your relationship with God.

just know that historically speaking Jesus was not actually born on Dec 25. Easter and Christmas are pagan holidays in their roots. i watch a lot of documentaries that are not religiously biased and even historians believe Jesus was not born in winter time at all. so at least go do your research on these things. but i do think that it isn't such a horrible thing to celebrate the birth of Jesus on the wrong day. christians do so with the purest intentions in their heart and i don't see the harm in that. but it is important to understand those days really aren't the actual days.

now there is nothing wrong with you, you don't have to stop believing one way or another. research it yourself if you would like. you aren't alone in this. but your decision should not be made by what holidays you like best. this is about God and your relationship, not holidays.

First thing, grow up. No matter what your religion, you should not hate nor should you call other people's beliefs "cr__". As least it appears that you are too immature to make such decisions and you are "running your life" based on your childish emotions. It appears you have a lack of understanding and know less about Jesus and Christianity, than you know about Judaism or Jewishness. Jesus was not "the Jewish Messiah" or the Jewish prophecies would have been completed. Who Jesus was or who his followers were, if any of them even existed historically, does not matter. That is a logical fallacy. If Jesus was Jewish, that does not mean he knew the God of Israel or that he knew truth anymore than those Jews that he supposedly criticized. If he was Jewish, there were parts of the Torah that he did not know or that he did not agree with. If he failed to convince other Jews and failed to also convince all those non-Jews that lived in the Galilee of who he was, maybe something was 'wrong with him' as you put it. He did not fulfill any prophecy of any importance before he was executed for rebellion against Rome. If he wanted to be the messiah, he failed in that. But Christians see other things of value in his life, other than his trying to be a messiah, like teaching the wisdom that he found in the Hebrew or Jewish bible. He is a Christ to them. Jews have a covenant with God; you can not be a part of the covenant and also reject it at the same time without consequences. Your mother & you made the choice to follow Jesus or "Yeshua", so you are Christian and not Jewish. But you can do teshuvah, give up following Jesus, and return to Judaism at any time.

    Source(s): not a Jew.

What you like or want does not affect what the truth is. And no I don't mean a god.

BUT, you are not Jewish. If you take Jesus to be the messiah and your savior, then you are a Christian. Just because you were born to Jewish parents does not mean you are Jewish, it means you had a Jewish parent.

Religious ceremonies hold as much weight as does a birthday party. The only importance they hold is that which you assign to them. If you did not want to be Barmitzvahed, then you have not been Barmitzvahed, you simply went through the motions.

The biggest problem these days is that people let other people tell them what they are and how to act. Be who you are.

You are Christian if you believe that Jesus is your savior and the Jewish Messiah.

I will not counsel anyone on what they should or should not believe. However, I will strongly advise you against calling ANYONE'S religious traditions "crap"

Your so-called friends do not understand either what it means to be Jewish or Christian if they try to tell you that you cannot believe as you do because your ancestry is Jewish. They seem to forget that the original followers of Jesus WERE Jewish in ancestry

From what I can understand, you don't seem to know much about Judaism. I advise you to go speak with a Rabbi (I suggest a Chabad rabbi).

Jesus may seem like an easy option, 'believe and be saved' sounds very nice, but can that really be it?

Remember you are a Jew and nothing can change that.

Try to learn more about your religion.

Also, simply because one did not have a bar or bad mitzvah does not stop one from being Jewish. They are ceremonies, but you are a Jew whether or not you had one.

You cannot be Jewish Practising Judaism and Believe in Jesus as our Lord

    Thus You are Not Jewish

You may Believe but Judaism does not Recognize Christ as the Messiah

"I'm jewish and believe in Jesus."

No, you definitely are NOT Jewish. You have chosen to worship Jesus as a god, therefore making you a Christian. Be proud of your choice and inform those who insist on calling you a Jew that you certainly are not a Jew. You are a very proud Christian.

If you know anything at all about your heritage, you will recall that Christians have been making the determination for centuries about who is or is not a Jew. As a matter of fact they tortured and slaughtered thousands of Jews simply because of who they were. It is high time that we Jews ourselves determine whether or not we are Jews. You have chosen Christianity. Please tell your friends that you will no longer allow them to make decisions for you. Stand up and be a man -- demonstrate exactly how proud you are to call yourself a Christian!

Tell your friends exactly how insulted you are to be called a Jew! Let them know that you are a Christian because you have so much love for Jesus. We can no longer let Christians determine who is or is not a Jew.
