Are you looking for all errors in those sentences or just the ones you mention?
"I was never deemed a genius, nor was I ever picked to become a part of my high school’s upper crest." "Crest" should be "crust."
"It was such a relief to escape from the closed boxes of Calvert County, and be released into a world that so many had proclaimed to be a mecca for misfits." No comma necessary.
"The guy would have impressed even Willy Wonka with his bright green and yellow ensemble." The adjectives require punctuation: "bright green-and-yellow ensemble" or "bright-green and yellow ensemble," as you prefer the colors to be.

1. Looks good to me.
2. Absolutely correct, the mecca you are discussing is a generic, not the city.
3. According to my dictionary it is spelled correctly. One definition is coordinated outfit as in a costume.
