Is a degree from DePaul University in Chicago considered prestigious?

I can't seem to find much about the school's rankings or how people in the field regard DePaul. I'm considering pursuing a Master's degree in writing and publishing, either to go back into the publishing field in a few years, or to teach at the community college level.

    DePaul is a fine university. Most people who graduate from there quickly find work in their field. There are no guarantees.

    College rankings are made by magazine publishers for the sole purpose of selling subscriptions and for no other reason. There is no authority on college rankings. Don't be a naive consumer.

    Here are some college ranker's:

    U.S. News

    NEW! Forbes Magazine

    NEW! Rugg's Recommendations

    NEW! The Academic Ranking of World Universities

    College Prowler

    Gourman Report (no longer updated)

    Laissez Faire Ranking (no longer updated)

    Another list:

    College and graduate school rankings

    * U.S. News & World Report

    * Princeton Review, Based on student surveys.

    * Kiplinger's Personal Finance, "Best values in education."

    * Washington Monthly, Schools that promote social mobility.

    * Journal of Blacks in Higher Education

    * Hispanic Magazine

    * John Templeton Foundation , Evaluating character development.

    * Graduate school rankings

    * Business Week , Business school rankings.

    * Wall Street Journal, Business school rankings.

    Or you could study these. Include the Ivy League to this list of the most prestigiuos/renowned in their respective category:

    * Big Three (colleges) — a term used to refer to Harvard, Yale, and Princeton

    * Colonial colleges — the oldest U. S. colleges; includes all of the Ivies except Cornell

    * Hidden Ivies: Thirty Colleges of Excellence

    * Jesuit Ivy — Complementary use of "Ivy" to characterize Boston College

    * Little Ivies — group of U.S. liberal arts colleges that parallel the Ivy League in some respects

    * Public Ivies — Group of public U.S. universities thought to "provide an Ivy League collegiate experience at a public school price"

    * Seven Sisters — Historically, these were women's colleges each of which had a close tie to an Ivy League school.

    * Southern Ivies — Complimentary use of "Ivy" to characterize excellent universities in the U. S. South

    * Black Ivy League - A list of Historically Black Colleges or Universities that provide high quality education in a predominantly black environment
