How can I send a free text message from the U.S. to NZ on the internet?

I don't want to get any charges on my cell. But I need to get in touch with my penpal.

    yes, if you do it from the internet on a computer, it will be free. If you use the internet from your cell phone, it will be considered a text message and will charge you.
