What are some visual metaphors for destruction?

What are some visual metaphors for destruction?

Update:

Preferably pertaining to photography, but whatever works. (Added to this category because most people in the photo category ask questions about what camera to get or how to do this and that with their cameras)

smoke, decay, a barren field where plants used to grow that has become an abandoned construction site, massive logging sites, industrial districts, graffiti, litter, wrecking ball (too forward i think) gasoline rainbows in water, potholes, anything aged, a gun shop, a shelf full of violent movies/video games, fire, a big empty lot, anything disused, an old lady's garage full of dented water-damaged boxes of receipts, a sunset exposing disgusting smog, anything made out of lots of wood where the thought that it used to be trees is brought to mind, a dumpster full of broken things that once meant something to someone who might be dead, a graveyard (preferably badly maintained,) those places by the edge of a river where those broken log things that used to be a dock stick up in rows, where you don't want to imagine what falling in would be like, a rusty broken chain-link fence with overgrown grass and trash strewn around, clouds with lots of contrast between gray and really dark gray, a group of weathered men standing on a corner in front of a closed shop in the rain waiting for drugs (very easy to find in most cities, for real) those odd places where old train tracks are half covered by broken concrete, and of course things that have been destroyed.
