Why do people criticize me so much cuz I love fasting?
asalamu alikum,
I just looove to fast and I come from a background where all people love food. Family and relatives never fail to seize any chance to criticize my fasting habit. My most important question is, will I be rewarded for loving to fast, and if I over-fast, would that be considered a sin?

There could be a concern that your fasting for the wrong reasons. Your not supposed to enjoy it that's the point. It could annoy them that you are able to do something easily that's very hard for them, no one likes a showoff.
They also might be thinking eating disorder and are trying to correct you from potentially dangerous habit formation.
Its my humble opinion that you should worry less about sin and your family and more about your physical and mental health--good luck

All depends on the motive for fasting
How much of it is for controlling the senses ?
How much for show?
How much for health reasons?
After all the fasting, is there an attempt to controll hate, ego, jealousy, greed, lust, stubbornness and all bad traits?
The whole idea in fasting is to overcome all such traits.
Allah has given the body as a tool to fight such traits.
Ruining the body by over starving it is to throw away such a precious gift.
If it were so , many religions would suggest starving to death.
No religion does that.

Asalam Alaikum my dear sister
First thing to look at is your reason for fasting. I assume it if for the sake of Allah and you love to please Him and fasting is your way. We are to be balanced in our worship, but that does not mean we can't excel in one way, and fasting is a good way to excel. With that said dear if you are truly doing it for the sake of Allah only then inshaAllah you will be rewarded. There are rewards in this life and in the next.
It was narrated from Sahl ibn Sa’d (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “In Paradise there are eight gates, among which is a gate called al-Rayyaan, which none will enter but those who fast.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3017).
Second, there will always be people who try and discourage you from doing what is right. If your family is Muslim then ask them why are they criticizing you. Maybe they think you are doing it to much, or not for the right reason. If they are not Muslim, well then you already have the answer to your question.
Never will the Jews nor the Christians be pleased with you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him ) till you follow their religion. Say: "Verily, the Guidance of Allah (i.e. Islamic Monotheism) that is the (only) Guidance. And if you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him ) were to follow their (Jews and Christians) desires after what you have received of Knowledge (i.e. the Qur'an), then you would have against Allah neither any Wali (protector or guardian) nor any helper. 2:120
Even if they are not Jews or Christians, the same reasoning can be applied, actually even more so.
Third, as to if you over fast. I would say that if you fast more then the Sunnah then that would be fasting to much. Would mean you should not continue to fast after Magrib.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast continually, and Allaah gave him the strength to do that, but he forbade his ummah to do that out of compassion and mercy towards them.
Al-Bukhaari (7299) and Muslim (1103) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Do not fast continually.” They said, “But you fast continually.” He said, “I am not like you. I spend my time with my Lord and He gives me food and drink.” They did not stop fasting continually, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fasted continually with them for two or three days, then they saw the new moon, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If the new moon had come later I would have continued my fast” – as if to prove to them that they were not like him and could not continue fasting.
And you should not fast everyday, but every other day is like the fast of Dawood(alayhe wa sallam)
Concerning the virtue of the fast of Dawood (peace be upon him), al-Bukhaari (1079) and Muslim (1159) narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The dearest of prayer to Allaah is the prayer of Dawood (peace be upon him) and the dearest of fasting to Allaah is the fast of Dawood. He used to sleep half the night, pray one-third of it, and sleep one-sixth of it, and he used to fast one day and not the next (i.e., fast alternate days).”
InshaAllah I hope my answer helps you sister. Anything that I have said that is correct is from Allah, anything that is incorrect is from shaytan and myself. And Allah knows best
