When are the school holidays in Turkey?

My girlfriend's daughter wants to go on a school exchange in Istanbul, Ankara or Izmir for one year. Are the holidays the same as in European schools? What problems could she encounter (she'll be 16) staying with a family in Turkey? I'd be grateful if a Turkish person would answer. Serious answers only.

Holidays are as above. Dates of holidays in the first 6 months of 2011 are always the same.

Black monday was on september 24th in 2009.

Winter Semester for elemantary and high schools will be between january 25th, 2010 and february 8th, 2010. Summer vacation will start on june 18th in 2010.

These dates will be changed surely in 2010-2011 season. But the holidays will be near as above.

Your girlfriend's daughter will be fine with a turkish family. I know a lot of foreign students who have lived or have been living with a turkish family and I haven't heard a complain from students. You will be suprised when you see how hospitable turkish people are. She will be good taken care of. You can send her with peace of mind.

    I hope it will help.
