Tylenol only please. Anything else should be cleared with your OB first. Try to treat the cause, not the symptom if possible (e.g., if you get a tension headache, target your efforts at reducing your stress rather than treating the headache only).

Tylenol is all I was recommended when I was pregnant. I don't think you're suppose to take Advil, I was told nothing, but Tylenol or Robitussin if I had a cold, and only the regular day time Robitussin. I'm not sure if Advil will hurt the baby or not. I would call the doctor you plan on seeing or midwife and ask them. And I think they'll see you before 3 months.

The baby books say tylenol in safe amounts.But neither will help a small cold. If you have headaches or fever use tylenol only. When you have your first prenatal visit tell your dr. Not much you can do about something you've already taken. Get some prenatal vitamins and start taking them now,or just daily vitamins.Take very good care of your teeth,and drink lots of milk.The baby takes alot of calcium from u. Get the book "What to expect when your expecting" It's a pregnancy bible.
You might find one at a used bookstore,or resale shop that has books. It is VERY helpful.

No Advil. Ibuprofin is a prostaglandin inhibitor and has been known to cause some birth defects. Take Tylenol.
I use aspirin all the time (chronic head pain and arthritis) and my doc said it was fine. It is only a problem at childbirth because it increases bleeding. Up to you. For generic advice, doctors say to use Tylenol unless you talk to your doctor first.
There are claims on some sites (even legit sites) that aspirin causes the same problems associated with Ibuprofin, but this is based on theory. There has been no evidence that aspirin causes any birth defect in humans (after 100 years of use!), even at fairly large daily dosages. Bleeding, however, due to the blood thinning, is a risk, however.
These drugs have all been associated with real heart defects in newborns:
* Aleve® (naproxen)
* Advil® (ibuprofen - also other manufacturers)
* Vioxx® (rofecoxib)
* Celebrex® (celecoxib)
* Cataflam® or Arthrotec® (diclofenac)

Tylenol is the safest. For headaches, only tylenol. But for colds I would stick to tylenol cold, etc. You can also take sudafed. Don't worry about what's already been done, just try to avoid aspirin ibuprofen and advil from here on out.

Apparently most women are not informed about drug safety during pregnancy.
Advil is safe unitl 26 weeks of pregnancy but should NOT be taken after that point. Tylenol is safe anytime during pregnancy. Motherisk is the leading organisation regarding drug safety during pregnancy.
