Broken tooth during pregnancy?

I had a tooth break on the 23rd while I was brushing my teeth. (I was supposed to get it pulled since a cvity got under the filling) but found out I was pregnant. I'm a little over 10 weeks, but the pain is unbearable. It's starting to radiate to my ear and up my temple. I can't sleep. What should I do? I've had the wax with benzo caine in there, but I had to think that it might hurt the baby.

I'd go to the ER or an urgent care place if I were you. My hubby recently had a tooth crack and start to abcess, with unbearable pain. A dentist will not deal with your tooth right away, it'll be at least a week before they can deal with it because you need to be on antibiotics to take care of the infection before a dentist can do anything to patch the tooth. At least getting the tooth diagnosed and starting antibiotics right away will help with the infection. The dentist may be able to temporarily cap the tooth with minimal drugs (hubby's dentist did a filling with clove oil to help with the tooth until a permanent filling or cap can be done). From what I've read though, your OB will want you to get the tooth problem under control, since tooth problems can lead to a premature birth, especially if the tooth is infected and the infection spreads into your bloodstream. Notify your OB on Monday morning on what's going on, they may want you to see a certain dentist who knows how to take care of pregnant patients or they may want to coordinate care with your dentist.
