Les Miserables or The Count of Monte Cristo?

Okay so I don't know which book would be better to read... I'm a sophomore in HS and I'm not sure what book would make the most sense or be an easier read. Help!

Les Misérables by Victor Hugo.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas père.

    The Count of Monte Cristo! It's exciting, funny and suspenseful!

    Les Miserable put me to sleep.

    I think both are pretty good, but the Count of Monte Cristo is better
