Fish Allergy? - Recently woke up with swollen face?

I recently woke up with a swollen face and lip after eating Orange Roughy. I am a middle aged woman and have never had a food allergy before. My mother and husband also had the fish prepared at the same restaurant. I can't think of anything else out of the ordinary. Do I dare try fish again? I love fish and seafood.

It sounds like an allergy. Allergies can surface at anytime in your life. There is a possibilty that you are allergic to something that was put on your food, something in your house (the room you woke up in), or you may just be allergic to that specific fish. I would go to a doctor to get allergy tested. The test should cover sea food, and that should help you determine whether or not you should try fish again.

An allergy can come up anytime in your life. From just being born until your 100. There will always be a chance you come across somthing that your body doesn't agree with.

The best thing you can do now, is go to see a doctor. You will be able to get tests done. This will most likely be able to determine the cause of your reaction. I strongly reccomend this. Some allergies can be life threatening. If you don't get this checked out now, it could very likely happen again, and there is a possiblility it could close up your airways. But this is also a possibility now. So in conclutision, I would make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible!

    Good Luck!!
