Help taking out a tampon?

I was taking out a tampon and it wasn't coming out easily. I stuck my fingers inside to get it out and realized a piece of skin or something like that which kind of looked like a rubberband had wrapped around the tampon...Is that normal?? If i hadnt noticed that i probably would have yanked it out. Is that skin supposed to be there?

that skin is the remains of your hymen, it's nothing to worry about. your hymen is extremely flexible and though it may make removing a tampon slightly uncomfortable, it won't harm you in any way to just pull the tampon out. if you still feel discomfort when removing the tampon, try lubricating your fingers with saliva or a water-based lubrication and inserting two fingers into your vagina to pull the tampon out. best of luck, and don't worry (:

when taking a tampon out it should just slide out!! you pulled it too early!! and for the skin that it to help keep the tampon up there!! just wait longer next time to take it out!!
