What can my 6 month old sleep in now?

I am running out of ideas for my son, he is almost six months old and weighs about 18lbs. Currently we are using a co-sleeper in our bedroom, prior to that he was in a bassinet. He is now getting to be about too big for a co-sleeper and or most pack and plays. We have crib, but here is my problem- we had a hard time conceiving (including the loss of one baby) & we almost lost him during my delivery- needless to say I am scared to death of SIDS or anything else happening to him so I would prefer him to be in our room so that I can keep an eye (and ears) on him. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could use for him, a friend of ours was telling us about a particular Pack & Play that was capable of supporting up to 35 lbs, if anyone knows which one that is, it would help greatly. Thank you!!!

if the crib doesn't fit in your room , what about the pack n' play without the basinette part on top- he would sleep on the bottom if that makes sense? This is what we use if we are staying with relatives/at hotels etc. IT's a pain to get them in and out, because you have to reach down so far.

Is this what you already have?

the arms reach ones look like they go to 32 pounds and this one goes to 500 pounds !!

    good luck finding something suitable!

He may be too big for the pack-n-play *insert* that makes it like a bassinet, but he is definitely not too big to sleep in the bottom portion of a pack-n-play. Just don't use the bassinet insert and lay him directly on the bottom.

Do you not have the floor space for a crib in your room, or is it just too massive? You can set up a Montessori bed in your room. Basically, you make sure that your bedroom is baby proofed and that there's nothing laying around he can get into. Yes, you'll have to move some things up and put some things away and do some rearranging, but that's okay. Then you take his crib mattress and set it up directly on the floor. Yes, I believe you vacuum your floors regularly and wash his bedding often, so I'm not concerned that it's dirty or gross or anything like that. Baby sleeps directly on the crib mattress on the floor. You don't need the bars of a crib or the sides of a pack-n-play or bassinet because you've essentially turned the whole room into a crib. You don't have to worry about him rolling off and getting hurt because he's just a few inches off of the ground. You don't have to worry about him getting into something because you've baby proofed the room and only left out things he can play with. Plug in a little night light so you can make sure he hasn't wiggled in your foot path, and let him happy sleep near you.

Even in a pack and play, the risk of sids is present. However, after 6 months that risk decreases a lot no matter where baby sleeps. If the crib will fit in your room, I would go with that option(we had our son in our room until he turned 1, because we had a 1 bdrm apartment and no room so it was cramped anyway) So cramped, my husband used to have to climb over our bed to get out of the room...lol

Is your son rolling yet? If he is rolling, again the risk decreases even more. Just keeping in mind to leave loose blankets and toys out of the crib/pack and play.

  • They have some kind of baby monitor that you put underneath the mattress, it's very sensitive, and if there is any sign of SIDS an alarm goes off to alert you. That could help put your mind at ease with baby sleeping in a crib. Good Luck!

attempt reading wholesome Sleep conduct, happy toddler. you would be surprised at how at once issues exchange. I solely breastfeed and my son has been dozing contained in direction of the evening as a results of fact that he became into 6 weeks previous. he's drowsing by using 8:30 or 9 and would not awaken for 9 hours to feed, then he sleeps yet another 3. This e book is a complete lifesaver and each thing in it is so common experience. *edit* there is actual something to what the long-winded poster is asserting. My son additionally falls asleep on his very own, in no way in my palms, and that's between the variations I made top till now he began dozing contained in direction of the evening. i comprehend it is not a fave answer as a results of fact all of us want to cuddle our infants, yet thier sleep cycles are plenty diverse than ours and could be dealt with in a various way.

I don't know how big is your room, but we used to put the crib at the foot of our bed. This way, we had an eye on our baby while he was very comfortable in his crib. You want the baby to have room and sleep comfortably so that might be a solution.

Is there any way you can fit the regular crib in your bedroom? My daughter was in our room until she was one. I also ask, just because the mattress is more comfy than a pack and play.

I also found this co sleeper, that holds 30 pounds.

Good Luck and congrats on your bundle of joy!

From three months on I've had my daughter sleeping in her own crib in her own room. Co-sleeping even if it's not in the same bed is one of the hardest habits to break with a child. They long for that closeness, but as a parent it's your job to encourage independence while still being supportive and there for your child.
