24 year old female Mother of two beautiful girls I am currently enrolled in school to pursue my life long dream of becoming a nurse!
Do we have thrush? Please help me!!!?
For four or five days now my left breast only has been feeling progressively worse. It started out with a painful let down feeling that I haven't felt before, almost like an intense burning feeling right in my nipple. Each day it gets a little worse and it burns now the entire feeding. Originally I thought it was a clogged duct and have been taking hot showers, nursing in different positions, warm compresses and massage. I think there was a clog because there was a lump that has sense gone, but the burning doesn't go away! I'm to the point that it hurts so much to nurse on that side I have a hard time with let down because that's the time it hurts the worse! My nipple isn't red or itchy, I do have kind of sharp pains once in a while, but only on the inside of my breast not radiating deep inside it. It's mostly just the burning feeling (that stays most of the time, but only really hurts during nursing.) My baby doesn't seem to have any symptoms of thrush but I've read that they don't have to for me to have it.
What is wrong with me? Is it thrush or something else. Please please please I'm desperate and need advice. I would go see a doctor, but I am not insured (all of my kids and DH are, but I have to wait until open enrolment in August to sign up) so I don't want to go to the doctor if there's something I can do at home to help.
TIA
2 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoWhat are your thoughts on this?
I went to the doctor today and he did a pelvic exam as well as testing for strep B. I know I'm probably jumping the gun but I can't wait for my little guy to finally get here. I was 2cm dilated and 70 percent efaced. I've had terrible braxton hix contractions all weekend on and off and they still aren't going away. I'm curious to know if anyone else has been threw the same thing and when did you finally go into labor? Or do you think I'm close? I've never been threw labor without being induced due to medical reasons and this will be my first pregnancy where I have have to wait until it happens.
Also I know that I might be a little early but my doctor is confident that the baby is ready to come at any point now and has given me the thumbs up for delivery whenever the time comes.
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoI want to know if anyone else feels this awful!?
So I'm probably a HUGE baby but I'm pretty sure I'm dying the last few days. I'm 33 weeks and 4 days pregnant today and my hips and pelvis are killing me!!! This is my third child and I've never experienced this before. It's like someone kicked me in my privates. It hurts to walk, it hurts to lay down, it hurts to sit. Also new the last couple of days if I walk more than from one end of my house to the next I start having contraction. I'm sure they're just the fake contractions, because they go away as soon as I'm able to sit down again, but man they hurt just as bad as real labor. The last thing that is killing me is that I'm not really able to stand up straight at this point. It feels like all of the muscles in my lower abdomen are so far stretched that I don't have the ability to stand up straight without tearing every last one of them. I just want to know if anyone else has been feeling this way and that it's normal. If it's not I'll make a call to my OB but I hate to do that if it's not necessary.
I have been using a maternity belt, it doesn't do any good and I've only gained 5 pounds this entire pregnancy so I don't know that any of this is weight gain. Perhaps just weight distribution?
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoIs my daughter old enough?
In July Carrie Underwood is coming in concert to our town. My six year old LOVES Carrie Underwood and almost dies every time we drive past the billboard begging to go. I don't know if she's old enough to go to a concert yet or not. It's a seated concert at a college, the college is BYU and if anyone knows anything about this college they would understand that they're not even going to serve beer there because it's such a religious school and town. What do you all think should I buy the tickets and surprise her at her Kindergarten graduation or is she still a little young to attend an event like this? Oh and then after because it's on July 3 there will be a huge firework display as well. . .
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWould you ever spank your children?
I realize this is a very controversial subject and my intention isn't to offend anyone or start an argument of any kind. I am having a little bit of a family feud right now and want to know how others feel about this subject.
I want to know if you would ever spank your child? If so how old are they and what kinds of things are punishable by this? I don't mean bend them over your knee and spank their bum over and over again, I mean one swat on the bottom with a stern NO, I've told you not to do this before.
My situation is that my six and two year old have been relentlessly playing in my curtains, I have had to buy two different current rods because they damage them beyond repair. (We're on set number three). I warned them that if they played in them again I would spank their bums and when I caught them playing in them again I swatted their bottoms. We've tried time outs and even just talking to them, but the punishment wasn't enough to keep them from playing with them. I followed threw with what I said. Like I said before it was one swat to the bottom, they were still standing and neither of them even shed a tear, but you can bet your butt they haven't played in them sense. Well my six year old told my mom the other day and my mother told her that it was so inappropriate and encouraged her to continue telling on her father and I whenever she gets in trouble and now my mother is threatening to call the state. My children are far from abused, and very well taken care of, I'm just frustrated with the situation and want some options.
Please don't write rude comments, the point of this question is not to start an argument, I just want to know if it really is as inappropriate as my mothers makes it sound, because if it is I won't do it again. Thanks in advance
22 AnswersParenting1 decade agoWhy isn't my furnace working?
We have central air in the house that we rent, so the furnace and air run off of the same unit. I replaced the filter today thinking that was the problem, but alas, it's not. It's just not turning on I've got the thermostat set and it shows that it should be heating. The unit won't kick on unless I flip the switch (it's like a light switch connected to the furnace) and then it will kick on, but it just makes it's normal noise for a minute but doesn't actually blow any air threw the vents. It worked for a minute to heat the house to 69 but that was a couple of hours ago and it's getting chilli again. Does any one have any idea what I can do to get it fixed tonight. I have two little girls who will be terribly cold in the morning if I can't figure it out???
Oh and the gas has not been shut off at our house (just in case that was someones answer) :)
7 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoI have a sneaking suspicion that it's twins?
I am ten weeks pregnant with my third child and couldn't be more thrilled! I went in and had my first prenatal visit and we did an ultra sound. The doctor confirmed at that point I was eight weeks three days, we heard the heart beat 165 bpm. It was great, but very short. I am worried that he missed a twin. I am already showing and have been wearing my maternity clothes sense about seven weeks. I weighed myself just a week before conception and have actually gained ten pounds sense then! (In both of my other pregnancies, I didn't even gain that much for the whole nine months). I am extremely tired. I sleep for twelve hours a night, get up and an hour later I'm needing a nap. I'm eating very healthy, but it seems like I can't get enough to eat. I eat my regular meals and then one in between each because my stomach is growling and if I don't eat I get shaky, light headed and sick. The morning sickness hasn't been an issue at all, but that's a first as well.
I understand each pregnancy is different, but this one is way out there for me!!! Has anyone else had this experience? Did it end up being twins, or is it just in my head. I'm probably being silly, but I can't shake the feeling that there's two little beans growing in there.
Thanks in advance!!!
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHelp me figure out a good name?
I have to children Alaina and Olivia. I am expecting another girl and I want her name to fit with the other two. For short we call Alaina Lanie, and for Olivia Livie, I know it's probably silly, but I want a name that starts with a vowel and ends with a vowel and can be abbreviated with the ie sound. I am at a loss, any suggestions are welcome!
10 AnswersBaby Names1 decade agoWhen did you start nesting?
I don't know where this sudden burst of energy has come from but for the last three days I can't stop cleaning my house. I am taking on projects that probably should have been done six months ago, like cleaning out closets and throwing away things that my family hasn't looked at in months. I'm scrubbing walls and floor boards and cleaning carpets. I'm a clean person and like my house in order, but I've been going above and beyond. Today I'm searching for things that need to be done because I want to keep cleaning.
I'm wondering if it's just spring fever (which isn't something I normally go threw, ever) or if it's early nesting. I'm only eight weeks pregnant and it seems a little early, but I don't know for sure. What do you think?
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoWould you say something or would you not?
I am so worried about my younger sister and her weight. A little bit of history, when she got married almost three years ago she weighed 150lbs. She was healthy and beautiful, over the last three years she has steadily decreased in weight and I saw her for the first time in a year yesterday. I was shocked to see a skeleton with skin draped over it at 86lbs. I know she has anorexia, when I spent the day with her yesterday the only things she ate were two gummy worms and a mug filled with chicken broth. Nothing else, but when she talks about her weight (which is more often than not), she says her doctor is trying to figure out why she can't gain weight. That her body just isn't digesting the food the way it's supposed to and it's not absorbing the vital nutrients that it needs. She is obsessive about her weight and her looks, she works out at the gym at least two hours a day seven days a week in addition to the workout videos she does daily at home. I don't see her living her life for much longer if she continues with her current eating patterns, but I'm so afraid that if I say anything to her that she will get defensive and upset and not talk to me any more. I don't want to sit back and watch my little sister slowly commit suicide, but I don't want not have her in my life if she isn't going to be around much longer.
How would you approach the subject with her? Or would you, I'm just looking for a little advice. Thanks in advance.
4 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoI'm sorry I'm asking again, but I'm freaking out!!!?
I have now come to terms with the fact that not one single insurance company is going to insure my pregnancy because I'm pregnant before enrolling. I have filled out an application for medicaid, and I have to turn in a whole bunch of paperwork tomorrow to the office. From there it can take them up to 30 days process my application and give me an answer. My significant other makes $54,000 a year, right now we have a family of four. I am only applying for medicaid for myself because my significant other and our two daughters are already on his works insurance, but because we aren't legally married and live in a state without a common law marriage policy I can't be on his insurance. I'm just freaking out, does anyone have numbers they can show me, that have guidelines and qualifications. Please anything will help!
3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoIs there any insurance out there?
I am three weeks pregnant and it was a complete surprise because we were very cautions, but things happen I guess? I can't find an insurance company that will cover me now, but I'm afraid that I make to much money to qualify for state assistance. Does anyone know of any insurance out there that will cover me? I can't afford to pay for all of it out of pocket, or even find a doctor willing to accept payments!! Please help me!
3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoI'm going to ask again because I need more opinions.?
I am about three weeks pregnant, I woke up this morning and notice that I had been lactating. I guess it's not necessarily lactating because I realize that comes after the colostrum and I've been kind of leaky on and off all day. Is this normal to be lactating so early in pregnancy? I have two other children and have never experienced this before with either pregnancy. Also my breasts were never so sore, I just want to make sure this is normal. Could it be a sign of twins? I know I need to see a doctor but my OBGYN doesn't like to do appointments until the eight week mark to begin, but I need someone to put my mind at ease before then.
Thanks in advance.
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoI'm three weeks pregnant is it normal?
I'm about three weeks pregnant and I've already started lactating. I have two other children and didn't begin lactating with either of them until after delivery. Is this something that happens regularly during pregnancy?
2 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoCould it be a false positive?
Me and my husband had unprotected sex one time this month. On Valentines day, my period was due today and because I was curious to know if I was pregnant I took a test. It was obviously positive (I'm sure because the test said pregnant). That seems to soon for a pregnancy test to actually work, is there a chance that it's a false positive?
11 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoWhy would you say that. . . . .?
I'm trying to write an paper for my business class and I'm a little stuck. I'm hoping for some educated helpful opinions on why capitalism is the ideal economic environment? I need some help getting this paper going and forming an opinion on the subject.
Thanks in advance
4 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoKids do some gross things!!!?
So my 17 month old daughter has started this new little trick and it actually has me a little concerned. I'm hoping that someone can give me some advice on this matter. Over the last three or four days she has been sticking anything and everything she can up her nose. We try our hardest to keep any little things up out of her reach, but alas she has a six year old sister who leave stickers and things around from time to time and my youngest daughter has sonar tracking on these small items. They're no longer a choking hazard because she is stuffing them up her nose instead, but what do I do. She had some cucumber for lunch this afternoon and at bedtime a piece bigger than her nose slipped out. I'm worried that if I don't notice she has something up there (which I don't because she acts normal) that she will end up with an infection or something. What should I do to get her to stop doing this?
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoDoes anyone know where I can find. . .?
Does anyone know of any grants or scholarships I can apply for? I'm going to school at the local community college. I'm doing my prerequisites for their nursing program, but I found a school that offers the same program for almost three years less time. I receive pell grants now to pay for the school and they would transfer over and apply toward the cost of this school. However, they don't cover the full cost and me and my husband can't afford to pay the other part.
If you have any information or even links to websites it would be greatly appreciated!
1 AnswerFinancial Aid1 decade agoWhat would you have done?
So this is a little random, but my two daughters (17 months and 6 years) went to dinner with my mom on Friday night. We had just ordered our food when this Older lady probably about 65 or 70 sat down in the booth kitty corner from us with her grand daughter and I'm assuming her daughter. When we had sat down for dinner I had taken off my kids coats and my youngest had kicked her shoes off in the car after a long day of shopping and it was easier to not fight her to cram her little feet into shoes not to mention we were only five steps from the front door. As we were sitting there visiting I began hearing this old lady talking very loudly about my daughter who had no coat or shoes on and it's the middle of winter. Carrying on about it and telling the rest of her party to look at how sad that is and that we should be ashamed of ourselves. All through our meal it continued to be the main focus for this woman and a large part of their entire conversation. After dinner I put coats and hats on both of the kids and got up to leave. As we're walking past the woman says oh well they have enough sense to put a coat on her, but still no shoes, how pathetic. I got about two steps past their table and decided to go back. . . I leaned into their table and told the woman she needed to mind her own business, but that my babies shoes were in the car. Then we left. . .
What would you have done??? I'm still upset about the fact that someone was insulting my parenting even if it's not the right way. What would you all have done in the situation, should I have kept my big mouth shut?
