What could I carve that would be similar to carving a pumpkin?
So, the thing is I love to carve pumpkins. But that's only something you can do around Halloween.
I've been trying to think of something I could carve that would be similar to carving a pumpkin. Something that is available year round, or at least during a season other than fall.
I know there are artificial pumpkins, but you can't carve (as in just the skin, leaving the flesh) you can only cut.
Ideas would be appreciated.

Anything with a thick rind can easily be cut similar to pumpkins-- melons, squash, etc.
BUT you can carve pretty much any vegetable. It was originally turnips that were carved on Halloween, and there are festivals of carving radishes.
