Well, I've read that sad music, when your sad... makes you sadder. and I can prove that theory true.

but theres this one song, that's sad...but it makes you think.

It depends on your music taste really... as far as love metal goes, HIM - their album Razorblade Romance is good, quite heavy sound to pummel the pain a bit and the lyrics are usually quite relevant. Bon Iver - Skinny Love, and any other of his songs really, but I would warn you that this one might be too much if it was recent as it can drag you quite deep. Otherwise try a completely different approach and stick on Hurricane by Bob Dylan - full length version, all eight and a half minutes, and dance like a madman. I don't think anyone can stay miserable through that. (I know the message in that song is a very serious one but it's bloody brilliant non-the-less.)

Best thing to do though is get out of the house, go for a long walk and really mull over everything that went wrong and get it all out of your system, maybe pick up a big stick and hit it against a tree... do what you've got to do. Then remeber that people have been heartbroken for thousands of years, it's something we all go through, but at the end of the day if they made you hurt that much then what's the point? There'll be someone better. Come home and stick on a film that makes you happy and that DOESN'T involve people falling in love. (Watching WALL-E in the cinema just after a breakup was not a fun experience.)

i find it difficult to find lyrics that are better, they make me feel worse about somethng else, as well as putting my pain into perspective.

anything that screams.

it really makes me feel better by giving me a lot of adrenaline and just genenrally makes me feel better, it turns my anguish into movement, which helps a lot. =]
