How do you track running conditions with beads?

I knew somebody who was a runner and he prided himself in ALWAYS running in any condition. He used beads to track his runs, a certain color for perfect weather, a certain color for rain, a color for ice, a skull bead for hazardous conditions, etc. I can make my own system, but if this sounds familiar to anyone I'd like to hear the common color scheme people use. Any ideas?

Update:

Let me explain: he has a leather cord on which he puts a bead for every day he runs. Kind of like scouts use to track their camping nights. A skull bead means hazardous, a clear blue bead means something else... you get the idea.

While this sort of thing is a fun idea, a running log is more useful. I record the weather (temperature and precipitation) for every run, as well as what I wear on the run and if it was the right amount of clothing. Then I can look back and plan how many/how few layers I need based on the upcoming weather forecast.
