I have a 2002 v8 ford explorer and the 4wd doesnt engage, the light on the buttons dont light up?
the 4wd doesn't engage and the buttons that engage it don't turn on, but i think the auto works,, what should i look for

If the fuse is OK.........
Most common problem is the engagement motor located on the transfer case. Pick one up at a local salvage yard (a new one is ridiculously expensive) and have it installed.

okay i got kind of a dumb question, do you think that your 4wd does not work because the light doesnt come on, or did you try to spin the front tires also and that didnt work. but you said that it may work in 4wd auto/full time. i would start by checking and making sure all the wires are plugged in all the way on the transfer case, did it just start doing this over night or has it been messing up
