    Alcohol LOWERS blood sugar.

It is amazing how many people think the opposite.

The mixers may contain carbs and that is good to balance out your sugars.

1-2 drinks a day is fine.

    Don't binge drink ever.

Drinking is not the best idea, but I inderstand you are turning 21! I also was diagnosed very young and know how hard it is. I drink occasionally and you need to make sure you take insulin. i am currently carb counting and know how many carbs are in the things i like to drink. If you are going to drink try to avoid mixed drinks, because they are loaded with sugar! I used to get a diet coke with rum, if i really wanted a mixed drink.

Make sure that you do not over do it! Unfortunately you have a very serious disease and it can sometimes be annoying! But you only turn 21 once! So just think before you order!

Consider this. If you have been talking to a man or woman that's misplaced, and he is aware of that he's misplaced, and he's looking for desire for a regeneration in his spirit, and a change in his lifestyles, and he heard that you simply have been a Christian, and so he sought you out. He got here watching so that you can ask approximately Christ, and if He would make a change in his lifestyles. When he unearths you, you're status there consuming beer with a couple of different men and women. What does this make him feel? Make all of the excuses that you simply wish, however something that you simply say to him will don't have any energy. None whatever. He is status there considering, "Well, hell, I'm OK. He is status there consuming, and he's a Christian." WRONG! Once you proclaim to be a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, then YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN, FOR YOU HAVE BEEN BOUGHT WITH A PRICE. You MUST deny your needs of the flesh, and the matters of the sector, and do the desire of God! THAT is how we exhibit Christ that we have got religion. In His phrase. In His guide. In the salvation given to us. As for the reply above approximately Jesus making wine, New Wine used to be UNfermented wine. Sorry. Those of you that consider that you'll do anything you wish to, so long as it's moderately, are abusing Christ's grace. No transformation, no regeneration, no salvation.

You can drink as a diabetic; it doesnt affect insulin though I'm sure you know that alcohol has plenty of carbs in it. It also won't make you sick (well, no sicker then a non-diabetic :) )

The danger with drinking and diabetes is that it can cause hypos. The alcohol keeps the liver too busy to produce glucose to self-correct so you need to make sure you eat plenty and carry identification with you that you are on insulin (just in case). Other then that, all other warnings attacted to drinking apply - can cause brain damage, you to do stupid things etc etc so be smart about it.

You just have to take the appropriate amount of insulin to compensate for whatever it is you pla on drinking. Personally, I'm more a fan of wine then I am of mixed drinks so I looked up the carbohydrate amount in an average glass of red wine and now know to take about a unit of insulin to offset for the glass of wine. But then ..I'm on the pump and thus use fast acting Novolog to offset what I eat.

Do you research before hand, and it couldn't hurt to ask your doctor about drinking and how to go about it with the medication treatment you're on. Look up drinks you're interested in trying online and find out the nutritional information. You just have to be prepared. Oh, and it couldn't hurt to make sure that you have a friend who knows you're diabetic and what to do for you around when you do go celebrate your 21st!

And don't listen to the people here who claim that 'drinking + diabetes = death'. They don't know what they're talking about and likely either inexperienced with alcohol or plain old think that no one should drink, no matter what.

(Don't forget to bring a designated driver!)

Having a drink now and then, is fine.

    I've been type 1 for 30 years.

You can't be expected to go through life without ever taking a drink.

Of course, if your an alcoholic, then don't.

Not advised, as drinking can progress your condition. But think of the money you will save having a glass of water, and you will have the upper hand on all the drunks.

The sugar in wine could mess you up so, please speak to your doctor about your drinking. As for beer, I haven't got a clue. Level with him as to what you drink & how often. Your doctor can go from there.
