its not that @#$ up , back in the rear its really good but overseas its where it all gets mess up because you have do deal with civilians and other branches also computers keep messing up (try setting up wireless signal in middle of nowhere ) and last but most important thing when we start speaking of thousand of dollars in some type of gear and equipment it will need signatures from Staff Ncos and Officers and for some reason some Marines can do that simple paperwork that it works as a receipt because if you start handing out stuff without receipt and they dont returned or it doesnt shows that you issue it (gave it) to someone...chances that the person that gave it away will get demoted for being a sh!bag and later search to see if you didnt misplaced that gear in your belongings.

Fact of life is that a bi**hing Marine is a happy Marine. Logistics is the most common of all of the necessary groups used in the service. Everything that everyone uses in the military comes through supply at one point or another. Everyone and everything in the military moves through government transportation at several points throughout their time in. You order a thousand widgets through supply, and they deliver 999 the very next day, they will never hear "thank you", but "where's the other one?" You get your requested vehicles on time and they will never hear "thank you" but "why are these seats so uncomfortable?" Basically, Logistics is the most needed and the least appreciated in the military system. Other fields may try to argue with this, but everything they have came from supply, including the recruiter's pens and paper.

we have what we need and we do far more with less and inferior equipment when compared to the other services. were close to the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to funding so a good deal of our gear is handmedowns from the army. but there are some areas where we are on the bleeding edge-
pretty much all combat arms units in the corps have at least the AN/PEQ-15 aiming laser or later for their rifles, which are a mix of M16A4s and M4s. most of my army buddies talk about the PAQ-4s they have like theyre high-speed...but for the most part its a pretty small slice of the pie that we get to spend on fancy gadgetry, so unless we see it as misison essential, we dont bother with it.

The movies always throws in little things they know nothing about. Getting supplies to a combat unit has always been a problem. Patton outran his supply line in WWII. Helicopters carrying supplies got shot down in Vietnam. Convoys have to deal with IED's today. It's part of warfare.
Situations are often different. In Vietnam a soldier carried iodine tablets to purify water. They could fill a canteen at a stream and have potable, althought terrible tasting, water. In a desert environment you carry all your water, you don't rely on local sources.

the marine logistics do f&%! up from time to time but every one is going to run in to some problems when some one is trying to kill you while they are trying to deliver chow, ammo and mail but i really haven't seen much of a problem with it.
as for the army they are about the same i had to work with some army in 06 iraq
and as for the navy who cares when was the last time a ship saw combat and that little boat blowing up doesn't count it only counts if there is some type of gun fight
