Fun things to do in vegas that are cheap?

I have had a plan to go to vegas for about 4 months now, and I got hit by about 1100 in car repars, and we leave in the next two weeks... I was looking for suggestions on cheap things to do both in:

what to do and

cheap places to eat...

I still thinking I'll spend a couple hundread bucks, but I'm looking at making the trip a quite bit cheaper now... no reason to return the tickets...

I'm going to list everything and you can decide if its cheap or not because different people have different opinions of cheap. Or something might cost a little more, but it might be worth the money to see.

Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay- $17 per person

Roller Coaster at NY NY- $12 per person (look for coupons in local magazines)

Midway at Excalibur- each game is $1-$5

Lion Habitat at MGM Grand- FREE

    Bellagio Fountains- FREE

Atlantis Show at Forum Shops at Caesars- FREE

Eiffel Tower Experience- $11 per person

Adventuredome theme park at Circus Circus- $25 each (look for buy one get one free coupons)

Dolphin Habitat at Mirage- $15 per person

Sirens of TI show in front of Treasure Island- FREE

Exploding Volcano in front of Mirage- FREE

    Walking around downtown- FREE

Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum at Venetian- $25 each (look for coupons in local magazines)

Swimming Pool at your hotel- FREE

Drinks while gambling- FREE + $1-$2 tip

there are more- I just can't think of them right now, check this website http://www.vegas.com/attractions/

    Food

One way to do it is skip breakfast (or just have something small like coffee) and hit a buffet at about 1 or 2pm. You will get the lunch price of $15-$25 depending on the buffet and it will fill you up for most of the rest of the day. If you get hungry later you can just pick something up off the dollar menu at McDonalds in any hotel food court. Excalibur has a special on their buffet where you pay $29 and that gives you 24 hours of food so you can come and go as you please. $29 total per day on food is an excellent value. http://excalibur.com/buffetallday/ I don't think you have to be staying there to use it. You could also eat only at the food courts so that you are paying fast food prices. You could figure about $6-$7 per meal that way.

For transportation, buy the 3-day Deuce bus pass for $15. That gets you anywhere you want to go along the strip and downtown for $5/day. Otherwise a 1-day pass is $7 and a one ride pass is $3.

Let's Make a Deal is being filmed at the Tropicana... It's Free...Get Tickets!!

Spend a few hours at the pool or hot tub... That's free too...

Going sightseeing at the new City Center.... Free again

Walk the strip and take a bunch of pictures... Free, Free, Free

    Unfortunately no food for free

    But

    McDonald's is on the strip

    Outback Steakhouse isn't to pricey

The America restaurant in NY NY is really inexpensive

And the souvenir shop & food court by MGM has a top floor full of fast food restaurants

All the ads tell you about the casinos, gambling and shows. The real excitement is in the national parks that surround Las Vegas. Just to name a few: Red Rock, Lake Mead, Valley of Fire, even a ski area in the winter. Explore them before you come by looking at VegasNature.com Besides they are a lot less expensive to visit.
