I need to stop my cat drinking vase water or secure it so she can't knock it over?!?
Help!! I started putting her water in a vase and she does drink from it too. I'm not worried about her water intake. She has knocked over vases, twice. One was pretty heavy too. If the water goes so low that she can't reach it, she hugs her paw around the vase and tips it with her head in there trying to reach the water! Can I add something to the vase water (that won't hurt the flowers) that she won't like, maybe some lemon juice or vinegar? Would that harm her urinary tract if she does still drink it?!?

I have a betta fish in a tall vase. Both my cats will drink out of this instead of their own water dishes. My teens thought they liked the fish food, so I put fish food in the cat water dish..they still do not drink out of their own dish. I just keep the fish vase full of water and not worry about it. I would just keep the water level filled everyday and let the cat drink out of it. It is really not worth the stress.

I used to have a tall glass vase that I rooted cuttings in, and my Tubby cat loved to drink water out of that vase, especially if it grew green algae in it. If the water level sank below where she could reach it, she just jammed her face in deep and usually wound up tipping the vase over. When Tubby got old, she liked to spend hours sleeping beside the fence in the shade of the pyracantha. I kept the vase filled up and propped against the fence for her, so she could always get a drink from her favorite fountain.
I never found a way to stop her short of emptying the vase and putting it away in the cupboard. Your best bet is to do as I did, and just keep the water level topped up. Or you could go to a garage sale or something and get her her own vase. Now I have a cat that particularly likes to drink out of my husband's favorite coffee mug; we aren't sure yet who is going to win this battle of wills.
A little lemon juice or vinegar won't hurt your cat, but wouldn't it be just as easy to simply keep the water level high?
If you can screw an eye bolt into the wall, you can loop a wire from it around the vase and secure it back to the eye bolt. This might help keep the vase upright.

Maybe I am incorrect, however I heard that sugar is well and maintains the crops watching bigger, for many years. Maybe your cat would possibly not like sweeten water? Don't positioned an excessive amount of : one teaspoon to at least one tablespoon; relies how huge the vase is. Vinegar or lemon sounds well, too. Think approximately it. If she'll no longer adore it she'll no longer drink it, besides. Also, to relaxed the vase, location small marbles in it. That's what I am doing whilst the vase is just too slender or tall, or too small for the plants I installed.

It would be best to eliminate all vases until she got use to a drinking bowl.
Otherwise, put rocks/pebbles in the bottom to make it heavier.

plastic wrap or foil might work.
