NEW School prayer :

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God

Finds mention of Him very odd..

If Scripture now the class recites,

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow

Becomes a Federal matter now..

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

That's no offense; it's a freedom thing..

The law is specific, the law is precise..

Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,

God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks...

We can carry smut, but not the Bible.

To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King..

It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,

We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,

No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:

Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen

Schools have rules to instill discipline. If discipline can be maintained and doesn't distract other students and faculty, then any of the aforementioned topics you describe is acceptable to me, but there in lies the problem. There are politically correct folks who go looking for things that upset their apple cart and try to infringe their beliefs on the masses. You cannot please everyone so most of what you actually say, even though nothing wrong with it, is not conceivable in today's world.

    AMEN

That's an awfully pessimistic view of school. It would be inaccurate for public schools where we live; kids can carry a Bible if they like, but aren't allowed to carry porn. Many of the other things I find exaggerations, also. Perhaps they are true where you live, I don't know.

I think positive actions are ultimately more productive, for example, various local churches here do a thing called Kid's club after school, where they have supervised activities, help with school, and a small bible lesson. And yes, they're allowed on public school campuses. They also do campus cleanups once in a while, and provide various supplies and gifts for teachers throughout the year.

this is awfully judgemental.. i am a Christian, and believe in the Lord God but i dont feel the need to cut down others, and critcize pregnant teenagers or those who dye their hair green. it completely inappropriate... and im sure God loves them just as much as He loves us.

it is unfortunate that religion does not have a presence in many schools but we do need to be respectful of other peoples beliefs. and there is no need to criticize others like this little poem does.

Considering the number of people that have been murdered in the name of the "religion of love", I'd prefer it not be in our schools.

    I like it.
