Should Peter Crouch be starting for Tottenham?

I dont like Crouchy, i have been supporting spurs for 5 years now, and recently this season, i have started to dislike tottenham's style of play. Players now kick the ball to crouch's head on almost every attack ending the attack quickly. The best performance was oviously against Wigan and all the goals were from low crosses from lennon and long balls to defoe's feet. No goal was scored because of a long ball to crouch's head. This tactic harry redknapp wants the players to use is lazy and uninteresting to watch. Martin Jol needs to come back.

I think he needs a good player to be beside him which is what Tottenham offer. Jermaine Defoe is a great support player and he is someone Crouch can knock down to. However as you said, Tottenham do play quick football and play low crosses; not good for Crouch. I feel that to play the long ball to Crouch there must be good quality to get it to him. I wouldn't want him on my team because he scores goals but he constantly gives the ball to the opposition. Also you have to play a certain type of football to play Crouch, which Tottenham do not play. It is stupid to revolve your team around a certain player as it will lose you matches. Crouch is a good player in his own way but I would rather have a striker who can fill more than one box like Agbonlahor for Aston Villa.

  • That's what happens when you have a big target man on the pitch, it gives you that extra option.

I don't know why so many Spurs don't like Crouch, we'd swap him for Heskey any day.

At least Crouch can shoot and has good technique (when he's not tripping over his own feet that is).

Players like this can be frustrating and it's not always the most exciting Football to watch because people like more fast, skillful players with flair. But it can be very effective and Crouch is one of the best in the biz at what he does.

''No goal was scored because of a long ball to crouch's head'' That's not true, i've seen him nod a great ball down for Defoe to score this season.

Look, with the height Crouch has it is hard for him to adapt to the fast wingers Tottenham has,Lennon and Palacios and Modric and Jenas. So the only thing he wants and can with his height is to score headers and to assist balls for his teammate Defoe and the others too.I think he is one of the best players in the world with that height.Great ball control and technique.I like him everyday more and more.
