FreeCreditReport.com isn't free. You are required to sign up for their monitoring service. Your credit card will be charged a monthly fee.

AnnualCreditReport.com is the site mandated by the FTC to provide online access to your free annual credit report from each of the three credit bureaus. This is the only site that will not require you to sign up for monitoring services. The reports are free, the scores are not.

You can get your FICO score with your Equifax report for about $8. You can also get FICO scores for TransUnion and Equifax at MyFico.com. Consumers can no longer get FICO scores for Experian. The TransUnion and Experian sites sell Vantage scores (different scale/formula). Third party monitoring services use Fakko scores. Creditors use FICO. Don't waste money on any other score.

CreditKarma.com offers a free score estimator based on your TransUnion Credit report. It's not FICO. But it's kinda, sorta like FICO, give or take 50 points or so. Good enough if you are just curious about your score.

Hi Crystal! The reason FreeCreditReport.com asks for your credit card is because they automatically enroll you in a trial of credit monitoring when you get your "free" credit report. If you don't cancel the trial subscription, they'll begin charging your credit card for the monthly credit monitoring service.

As some of the answerers here mention, you can get a free credit report, as mandated by law, from AnnualCreditReport.com. However, if you want your credit score, you'll have to pay.

If you want both a free credit report and free credit score, no strings attached, try Quizzle.com. It's the only site that gives you both for free without making you sign up for a trial of something you may not want. They don't ask you for your credit card either.

I dont know the site but when you go to one of the site that you have mentioned, look at the part where it says this site not affiliated with the free credit report allowed by federal law and click there , it should take you to the area where you can see your report from the three credit reporting agencys, you can recieve one report from each agency in a calender year

AnnualCreditReport.com is sponsered by the three credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

You will be asked to select the state you live in...then you will fill in all the appropriate fields.

Then you can click on each of the three sites individually. They will have you set-up a user name and password. It is free. If asked for a credit or debit card number, that is for additional credit monitoring services. So, don't give your card number.

    This site is free.

    Hope this helps

Try annualcreditreport.com. You are entitled to one free report per year from each credit bureau.

freecreditreport.com is a for profit company web site with heavy advertisment.

myfico.com charges for your credit score but is the one I personally use.

Because it's NOT free. They need your CC to sign you up for a monthly subscription service. You will be charged every month.

The only truly free site is the one that the federal government forced the credit reporting agencies to set up, and they are forbidden by law from charging for.

  • because they will charge ur credit card a monthly fee for signing up.

They can name their web site anything they want. Just because it's named freecreditreport.com doesn't men that they provide free credit reports.

The real government authorized site is www.annualcreditreport.com
