Why do bad things happen to good people?

I just received terrible news that my wife's best friend is dying of a neuro muscular disease. She is only 33 years old.She has a wonderful boy 5 years old.She is the kindest, most loving person I have ever met. I just don't understand why she has to suffer so. Why can't some bad person have this and she be spared?

God is in the world using the world and its failures for His glory and the benefit of those who listen to Him.

But then, what about those who seem to suffer innocently with no benefit resulting? What about the woman who is raped, or the innocent bystander who is killed by a stray bullet. In both cases, the victims and families suffer nothing but pain and loss. What good can this possibly be?

I think that the answer is two-fold. One, ultimately, no one is innocent. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23) and are by nature children of wrath (Eph. 2:3). There is none innocent. Though this is biblically accurate, it does not satisfy the question emotionally. Why do little babies suffer for things they have not done? I must acknowledge that I do not know. Ultimately, we must trust God who knows the beginning from the end and sees the grand picture. He will have the final word and He will be vindicated.

    Conclusion

Suffering is the result of human sin. The world is not the way that God created it and because of that, all are vulnerable to the effects of sin in the world. Why does one person suffer and another does not? Why do catastrophes happen to some and not to others? It is because sin is in the world. But there will come a day when the Lord will return and cleanse this world of all sin and all suffering.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away," (Rev. 21:4).

One thing for sure though all the bad things you see, all the suffering including tragic events are never come from God. Many are told that God’s way are mysterious or that he brings death upon people-even children-so that he can have them in heaven with him. But the Bible teaches that Jehovah (God’s name) never causes what is bad. The Bible says: “Far be it from the true God to act wickedly, and the Almighty to act unjustly!” Job 34:10.

Do you know why people make the mistake of blaming God for all the suffering in the world? In many cases, they blame Almighty God because they think that he is the real ruler of this world. They do not know the simple but important truth that the Bible teaches. The real ruler of this world is Satan the Devil.

The Bible clearly states: “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” (1 John 5:19) When you think about it, does that not make sense? this world reflect the personality of the invisible spirit creature who is “misleading the entire inhabited earth.” (Revelation 12:9) Satan is hateful, deceptive, and cruel. So the world, under his influence, is full of hatred, deceit, and cruelty. That is one reason why there is so much suffering.

A second reason why there is so much suffering is that, mankind has been imperfect and sinful ever since the rebellion in the garden of Eden. Sinful humans tend to struggle for dominance, and this result in wars, oppression, and suffering. (Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9) A third reason for suffering is “time and unforeseen occurrence.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) In a world without Jehovah as a protective Ruler, people may suffer because happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Above of all, Jehovah God promise that in the future there will be no more sick people, “No resident will say: “ ‘I am sick’” Isaiah 33:24. There will be resurrection for the dead loved ones as “All those in the memorial tombs will.. come out.” - John 5:28,29. And there will be no more death -Revelation 21:4

Nature > God. Reality > God. I'm not trying to sound mean about the whole thing, but that's life. I'm in the same boat, to some extent. My wife was the kindest person I had ever seen, and in my opinion maybe a little too kind. Even if someone had wronged her, instead of letting me loose on them and righting the wrong, she'd just turn the other cheek. In some cases, she kept me in check from doing something I may have regretted later. She was the healthiest person I'd ever known. I smoke (Never around her, though, or in the house for that matter), drink and eat a lot of horrible food that's supposedly "bad" for me. My wife didn't touch any of that. I'm healthy, she's dead. Go figure.

Overall, she was a great person. Loyal, understanding, forgiving, always trying to make people's lives better and offering to them a smile or laugh to brighten their day. I thought I found my life long match, made in Heaven. That is, until the day she was diagnosed with Leukemia. Sadly, my wife passed away three years ago. I can't understand why anything like that would happen to her, especially with a higher power around. That day marked the end of religion for me, period. I sought advice on it, and got a range of answers. "It was her time" to "She's in a better place/God's arms now." I don't accept that, in one bit. Never the less, God stole my wife and so on. I digress. This terrible thing happened to the most wonderful person. A woman that tried her damnedest to make the lives of people around her so much better.

The only memory I have left of my wife, that's burned into the back of my mind, was her clutching to me while in pain. The fear in her eyes was enough to tear anyone apart, and there wasn't anything I could do to help her. She died in my arms. In a sense, I'm glad she did, since she won't be in any pain, anymore. It hurts to think that her last moments were spent in horrible pain and suffering, as no one deserves to die like that. Drenched in fear and clinging to you for their life.

But alas, that's life. "That which does not kill you only makes you stronger." Perhaps, but it sure messes you up in the long run. Life. It's not fair.

I am not sure what the Christians are going to tell you on this one. Some might go with the test of faith route and others might say that these difficulties are placed in our lives as a way of giving us necessity to come to god.

I believe that bad things happen to good people because bad things happen to all people. There is no cosmic answer that can explain why everything happens the way that it does. This world is a great and terrible place and we only get to live life once. Make the best of the time you have now. Take nothing for granted.

Because life is not fair. Karma is not real. There is no universal justice. There is no balance between good and evil. There is no god who rights the wrongs and sets the captives free. Bad things happen to good people all the time. Good things happen to bad people all the time. If we want life to be more fair we have to work hard to make it that way. We can do a little something, but never create a system of total fairness.

That is the one question that I as a believer find the most awful to even contemplate. I've read a book about this question by Rabbi Harold Kushner whose child died of a dreadful disease. He never answered the question in a convincing way as far as I am concerned. I've heard preachers preach about this, but I think they should be ashamed to even try to find goodness in such dreadful situations. I just guess one day when we meet God He will have the answer. So sorry.

Spirituality Speaking. We are not promised tomorrow or even today. In reality I do not know that I will finish writing this answer before I die. I am sorry that the way things work are not always the way we would like them to. I do not know what your idea of good and bad are so I can't really comment there.

This is life. On life's' terms. Not ours.

Not to sound harsh or anything

But you think bad people do not get neuro muscular diseases??

This my friend is called Life. No one is exempt from the suffering or the trials. Bad things happen to bad people too. People just fail to recognize it because who cares... We think they do wrong they should get wrong in return. Once we see bad happening to good people its like damn the whole world....I'm sorry to hear this but unfortunately, the world do not show favoritism.

Please try and be in peace knowing that after the rain, blooms the rose. Once her suffering is done, she will be in peace with God eternally. She will no longer be in pain and the sufferings of this world will no longer be. God did not promise us the good life here on this earth, but, with him. Death is not an ending, but, a beginning of the life God has promised where there will be no more tears, pain and suffering.

Yep though your wife's friend is a good person I don't know if she has given her life to Jesus. Bad things happen to people not only because they are bad or good. But there are many factors. One should think weather they are secured in God's hands. ( have they given their life to Christ?) Some evil things happen to people caused by the devil. The Bible says 'we are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but agains principalities, power and wicked spirits in the heavenly places'. deamons can cause sicknesses and other tragedies. The devil doesn't care about good or bad people. But Jesus has said "Come unto me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest". Your wifes sickness may also be the cause of God to draw her to Himself. So your wifes's friend must first consider Jesus, her stand with God. Let her dedicate or rededicate her life to God thro Jesus Christ. So your wife's friend is good but that doesn't matter, what matters is, has she given her life to Jesus and accepted Him as her lord and Saviour. If she hasn't done so let her do it and call my line and I will pray with her for her healing. That saviour Jesus will heal her. 233 244 867468
