Left Wing tends to lean toward a larger government with a wider base of control. Liberals, Socialists, Communists tend to be left wing.
Right Wing tends to lean toward smaller government with less regulation. Conservatives, Capitalists and Economic Libertarians tend to be right wing.
Middle ground is sort of a new concept over the last 30 years, and comprises those who are too liberal to be right wing, and too conservative to be left wing. This is also called "Centrist". Independents tend to fall into this band.

Wow. You just opened a can of worms. Democracy can be either left-wing or right-wing. Communism is collectivist in nature, and would be considered left-wing. Essentially, the right-wing would be against government involvement in personal or business affairs, and the left-wing would support it. This is such a huge question that it would be difficult to answer here. The best thing to do is some reading. Good luck. Daze, fascism is leftist in nature. Look it up.

Left wing refers to the left which refers to liberals and democrats. Right wing refers to the right which refers to the Republicans. The middle refers to the independents. Liberals usually advocate a larger government with more government power and Republicans usually advocate a smaller government with less government power. Independents are usually divided on issues.

In USA: Democrats are left and Republicans are right.
In the rest of the world: Democrats are right and Democrats are ultra right.
The difference between democrats and republicans:
Republicans only care about their party. They think democrats are wrong and blame then for everything.
Democrats only care about their party. They think republicans are wrong and blame then for everything.
Those in the middle think both parties are wrong.
It's all about points of view.
