I like this guys definition of a republican from a previous question " Republican=small federal government?
and free market economy as well as less interference in people's day to day lives." If that is really the republican agenda then why have they never accomplished it. Is it incompetence or is that not really their agenda. Democrats actually do what we say we are for.

wow....really? You actually do what you say you are going to do? Want me to spout over 500 days of lies and promises made and never kept? INCLUDING transparency in this administration and letting us see the debates in senate on TV and allowing us to see the bill 7 days before voting?
REALLY? Is that where bozo said he was not muslim until he was President and then all of a sudden he is spouting his REAL RELIGION as MUSLIM after getting in?
REALLY? Is that where unemployment was going to be under 8 percent and not at 17 percent?
REALLY? Is that where the village idiot said he would be bi partisan and welcome republican opinon and advice and then this being the first time in HISTORY three bills were passed without even asking them to be there? THEN telling them they didn't need to come...it was passing without them?
REALLY? When he put up a website and asked americans to tattle on each other if they disagreed with him and slapped a lawsuit on insurance companies because they were answering clients questions? It had to be taken off by the way...from threat of law suits.
REALLY? Is this where bozo said we were going to pass health care for everyone and not illegals and not for abortion? Then we find out 23 MILLION are still not covered when ILLEGALS are?
REALLY? Is this where the village idiot claimed he was going to make health care affordable...and by 2017 it is going to cost 13,000 dollars? IS this where he said he was going to take care of tort reform and insurance companies and then made deals with them to the tune of 80 BILLION dollars so Canada could not sell their cheap medicine here and that insurance companies could make billions off of his AGENDA and that unions could benefit too?
want me to go on? Is this where 11 of your democratic senators are not running for re election ad one jumped ship on Dec 22 and Carney is going to jump to the republican side in Jan? Why are all teh dems jumping ship like drowning rats?
wow...talk about not doing what you say you are going to do? The ONLY THING that will come true on this administration is his double dip recession this next year because CHINA warned the U.S to stop spending money so freely and borrowing 1 billion a day from them...and on Dec 24th CHINA shut off the money machine. NOW no country thinks we can be trusted to pay them back and this means RECESSION becasue WE DO NOT HAVE MONEY!
Well you did vote for someone who said hope and change....you got the CHANGE RIGHT !

The current Republican Party has gotten rid of almost ALL Republicans who fit that def.
The current, wing-nut party DOES support shrinking or eliminating every part of federal government that makes our lives BETTER, but always wants to increase the parts that destroy lives.
As for less interference in people's lives -- right, THEY don't tell people whom they can marry; THEY don't force women and girls to carry pregnancies to term; THEY don't try to prevent anyone using birth control; THEY don't want the Ten Commandments plastered everyone, and everyone be forced to pray to THEIR Sky Bully.
They DO support deregulation of the economy, because deregulation allows the rich to take and keep everyone else's money.
Most of the people who actually support those things have fled to the Libertarian Party.
Unfortunately, the Dem record on doing what they say is far from perfect, historically. (For instance, Clinton didn't reverse the trend of the vanishing middle class.)
Obama HAS been pretty much doing as he promised, however; and most Dems in Congress support that.

Because that definition used to be of Republicans. It will be again. The reality is that Republicans have lost their way. Worry not. The Conservative Movement is on the job. We will restore the Republican Party to its former values and lead America back to what it should be.
Interesting enough, Democrats don't do what they say they will do. In fact, to get elected they always run as Moderates or even Conservatives. Democrats do what they fully intended to do, but by no means is that ever what they said they would do. If they ever said what they fully intend to do, they would never get elected.
What do you think would happen if the Democrats admitted they intended to ignore the Constitution, install a form of European style Socialism, deny individual rights, restrict personal freedom and lower living standards? What would have happened if Candidate Obama said, we will pass massive spending bills and not only not tell the American people what is in them, we won't even allow enough time for Congress to read them? What if Candidate Obama said, we will have the most secretive government instead of a transparent one?
Are you kidding me?

Replace the word 'Republican' with 'conservative' and you've got it right. (A surprisingly common mistake.) And that has been the problem for some time now. (Does Bush fit that definition? I think not.) As a result, you may have noticed that without conservative support, the republicans lost their majority.
But you're right. Democrats do what they say they'll do because democrats ARE liberal. And given both this fact, the obvious damage that it is doing to our nation and since a strong majority of Americans consider themselves to be 'conservative', if Republicans ever got a clue, there would be no way that the 'democrats' could hold a majority in the United States.

Odd, since the last Republican administration that actually lived up to the "small government" ideology was the Eisenhower administration. What have they been doing since? Cutting taxes and growing government in leaps and bounds, and therefore driving deficits through the ROOF.
The last TRUE Conservative candidate that the Republican party nominated for the Presidency was Barry Goldwater, and he was too extreme for even mainstream Republicans to vote for. Only the Birchers saw him as a "maybe" for the right.

Republican is SUPPOSED to equal conservative....Conservative equals small government...whoever you are talking about failed to notice the republican party has strayed from its conservative roots.
As for Democrats ACTUALLY being for what they say they are for??? HAHAHAHAHHA
the Dems spoke very loudly about the evils of the health insurance industry. They said they would fix it by having a public option...
Now they are trying to mandate that ALL americans buy private health insurance... The Dems are trying to make the health insurance companies richer than the oil companies.
If the Dems are ACTUALLY for what they say they are for, why are they helping an industry out that THEY said was evil and should be broken up?

Wow.... They say there is a sucker born every second, if you buy what you preach we should maybe bump that up to two every second. Your obviously not even interested in education, as revealed by your asinine assumption. Exactly what system has our country had for the last 200 + years if not one based free market economy and a limited government interference?

In your lifetime, the GOP has NEVER had a controlling majority. At most, they've had a "nominal" majority that allows them to pick the committee heads. Cooperation from Democrats has ALWAYS been required to actually pass any legislation or budget.
When do Democrats say they favor reversing the role of government from agent to manager?
In fact, when has any Democrat policy EVER yielded the results Democrats claimed they were intended for? On that topic, when has any Democrat policy NOT done what its GOP opponents predicted it would?

The republican party claims they are for small government, but by their actions they are not. And it has nothing to do with getting rig of programs already in place. It is simply that many cons don't care about more government when it restricts civil liberties, only when it affects business.

That would be the definition of a Conservative and most Republicans lean toward conservative and away from liberal agendas.
