I know Gingrich is an ideologue, Santorum is a Social Conservative and Ron Paul wants to slash government but Romney? He is wealthy beyond imagination, was not particularly much of an ideologue as Governor and is investing an awful lot of his own money seeking this office. But why? I still don't see a clear reason for him to want the job. Santourm, Gingrich and Paul all have a very clear and concise agenda. Heck, Gingrich's web site has his first year as President clearly defined. But Romney? I keep reading his take on issues on his web site but it seems sort of standard boilerplate rhetoric. I don't see what is his real motivation. Does anyone know what it is?

It seems to be gathering an awful lot of power to the Executive Branch. He has been in office for three years and faces an election in 8 months. Does anyone know why he needs this at this time? It speaks to "preparedness". Preparing for what, exactly? Here it is in its entirety.

Newt has done more for the Conservative movement than all the other candidates who are still or have ever been in this race. Yet he has been severely wounded not by Liberal Democrats but by Establishment Republicans.

Plenty of people have held up Norway as an example of how to run things. But now that butter there is costing nearly $500 per pound, shouldn't we be taking a lesson? Norway has a butter monopolist called “Tine” that is deliberately protected from foreign competitors by government-imposed import tariffs.

I often wonder what all the journalism majors and all the people who have put in long hours for little or no pay dreaming of one day being a TV journalist, vying for very few possible positions in the field, stand there and watch as when things like this happen.

In his speech in Osawatomie Kansas, Obama said:

He doesn't think our Free Enterprise Capitalist system has worked...ever! He really believes that individual Americans are nothing without Federal Bureaucrats "protecting" them from themselves. I have never heard this kind of nonsense from any President in my entire lifetime.

There is a movement to eliminate the very lucrative pension plan that Congress receives. It would be replaced with a 401k type that they would have to contribute to themselves. This would have two important effects. It would make serving a life long career in Congress much less attractive and save a lot of taxpayer dollars.

There is no right or wrong answer, I am only seeking your opinion on the subject.

He is once again calling for the draft but what I found the most revealing is the last line of this article. Speaking about his brother and himself;

For many decades he wrapped himself in the flag and his military service when he ran for office. But he doesn't even believe in Patriotism.
