What is conservatism?

The preservation of traditions and values of a country's past. And political status.

There's many different aspects of it, but here's the gist.

Small Government...the Founding Fathers saw how Big Government destroys indidual freedoms, and can corrupt and turn into tyrranical governments.

Free market capitalism...there is NO system in the world that is as good as ours. No system in the world had created a higher standard living for the people, than capitalism.

Low taxation...the more money the Govt takes from you, the less free you are.

I would stay that conservatism is a belief in minimal governmental intervention in society.

I would say that Teddy Roosevelt's "Gunboat Diplomacy" was conservative foreign policy. "Walk softly but carry a big stick." Show a strong attack capability but use only sparringly.

Allow business to regulate most of the day-to-day operations and avoid writing laws that manipulate the economy. Quasi-governmental organizations generally lead to economic bubbles. Flat taxes and limited government spending are the general goals of conservative economic policy.
