Yes, as I am a professional actor.
Only professional, working (with lots of experience/training) get those "connections" and auditions.
You must have these attributes:
1) Live in Los Angeles, CA or New York City (sometimes in Chicago, IL)
2) You are a legal adult over 18-years-old [or have a parent or guardian full-time supporting you with no other job--except you and your acting career].
3) Professional headshots
4) A resume full of training and experience in school plays (if you're young), community theatre (if you are not yet professional); commercials and tv spots and films (if you are professional).
5) A high school diploma and/or great grades in your school.
6) Your SAG (Screen Actors Guild) card, which you would've earned while shooting a professional commercial/tv show.
7) Your AEA (Actors Equity Association) card if you're a professional stage actor/singer and/or dancer.
8) You are currently in acting, voice and dance classes (good actors continue to train, even after they are established).
Since, chances are, you don't have these things (by your question). Yes, many of us have the connections and even go to the auditions. But, you will not be able to go to them; nor will we give you the connections without knowing who you are, what your experience is and why we should tell you and put more competition in our way for the role.
Although, considering you have none of the above . . . you are hardly competition against us seasoned professionals.
There's no easy way to get a role in Hollywood movies besides "paying your dues" which is what we all did!
Training . . .
Doing school, community and local plays and programs . . .
Getting your basic or advanced education . . . the more you know
Learning business . . . and doing the hard work associated with "business".
And with acting, this doesn't even guarantee working as an actor for good, or often.

Connections won't help you if you do not have experience and skill. You need to get some solid training by taking drama and acting classes. Toss in some dance and voice classes while you are at it. Then try to get experience by performing in school productions, local community productions, and student films. Sign up for industry publications and casting services. After you have some experience redouble your efforts to find a reputable agent. Make sure you have quality head shots and a professional resume. See the attached articles for more pointers.
After you've done all of these things you'll find that you've built connections of your own. You will also be in a much better position to get paying acting jobs based on your skill and experience.

For the average person or amateur actor? No. Many big Hollywood films shoot outside of Los Angeles in places like New Mexico, Michigan, Connecticut but the main parts are cast out of NYC and Los Angeles and the stars flown in. For budgetary purposes the production may hire extras and day player actors from the local talent pool. Even then those actors are for the most part professionals and members of the Screen Actors Guild.

the major roles are almost always precast by the producer and director to ensure they have people in the film who will sell tickets.
